Over at our website - mysteryofparenthood.com, we have posted the first of a series of blog entries called "To Someone I Love". We're writing these for our kids and grandkids (someday). Hopefully, we will post these once a week. We're doing this because we get so busy (and frustrated by that busy-ness) that, all too often, we don't share the Good News simply. This is our attempt to capture what we want our kids to know about God, about His love for them, about our love for them, and about the greatness to which they are called through, with, and in Him. Let us know what you think. God bless you all!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 16, 2017, we will have Dr. Mark Giszczak - a Scripture teacher at the Augustine Institute and author at Catholic Exchange (not to mention husband and father) - on the Mystery of Parenthood radio show at 1 pm CST on REDC Radio. We will be talking about honoring one's parents and Sirach's take on parenthood. To get a taste of what we will be talking about, I have included the below links:

Homer Simpson is the quintessential portrait of the American Dad. He’s fat, bumbling, silly, the butt of every joke. He always loses out in every conversation with his wife or with his kids. He is worthy of derision, never respect. But how does this caricature of fathers and fatherhood measure up ag...

We apologize for our tardiness in getting our column up over at Austin Catholic New Media. It's finally done. Again, we're going through the four attitudes of Evangelical Parenthood. Does your child know you as someone who is ready to dialogue? How about your spouse? According to Pope Francis, in order to evangelize, we must have an attitude of readiness to dialogue. Here are a few suggestions from our successes and failures as parents and spouses.
http://www.austincnm.com/?p=44094

The second attitude of Evangelical Parenthood lies in a readiness for dialogue. All too often, as a parent, we can be “preachy”. That is, we desire to control any conversation to the extent that there may be a difference of opinion or lack of time. We, some of us more than others, really need to…

Please pray for families, for marriages, for parents, and for children. During the upcoming year and a half, per Pope Francis, the Church will be focused on our challenges to living out our faith in and through our families. Pray for our leaders as they meet to discern a plan for helping husbands and wives, moms and dads fulfill their mission! This is an exciting time in which to be living. Trust that God has and will continue to provide us with all we need to live the Mystery of Parenthood.

(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis issued a letter to Families on Tuesday in which he asks for prayers for two upcoming meetings which will have the Family as their main theme. In his letter addressed to Families, Pope Francis asks for their support and prayers for the upcoming Extraordinary General Assem...
