Calling all Big Kids! CP Kids Choir starts next week- Sept. 9th and we are in need of a few more big kids to help carry solos, harmonies and anchor the choir and make the Phoenix choir soar! 🎹🎤🙌🏼
This is fun, family focused community with a healthy mix of ages PK- 12 years old. We have a strong group already but could use a few more 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders.

Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost

In this week's readings, God speaks from a burning bush that is not consumed, revealing the divine name to a reluctant Moses: I Am Who I Am. God sends him directly toward the suffering he had fled. That same holy ground runs beneath Paul's breathtaking vision of the Christian life: genuine love, hospitality extended to strangers, evil overcome not by force but by good, enemies fed rather than conquered. Jesus makes the cost explicit: Take up your cross, lose your life to find it. The God who grafts love into our hearts and brings forth the fruit of good works is the same God who sends us, like Moses, back toward the very place we thought we could not go.

Does your kid need to prepare a song? No but if they know a good little tune like “This little light of mine” they are welcome to solo! Mostly this is an opportunity for Mrs. Bri and Mrs. Marlene to get to know each kid one on one and find the best placement for the two choirs, especially for the inbetween age of 7.

Register your elementary aged child on the form on the front page. 🎼

Twelfth Sunday After Pentecost

In our readings this week, Scripture reminds us that mercy breaks open what betrayal and disobedience closed shut, and it is always wider than anyone expected. Joseph, who had every reason for bitterness, weeps with forgiveness and declares to the brothers who sold him: it was not you but God who sent me here, to preserve life. The Canaanite woman refuses to be turned away, meets Jesus’s hard words with fierce and humble faith, and wins from him the astonishing verdict: “Great is your faith.” Paul anchors it all, remind us that the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable. Where we live together in unity, the psalm tells us, there the Lord has ordained the blessing: life forevermore.

Eleventh Sunday After Pentecost

In this week’s readings, God’s purposes move through betrayal, fear, and the howling wind, and cannot be stopped by any of them. Joseph is stripped of his robe and sold into Egypt by his own brothers, yet the psalm looks back on that same story and sees the hand of God working through every injustice toward a redemption no one could have predicted. Peter steps out of the boat toward Jesus, feels the wind, and begins to sink, but the hand that catches him is immediate and sure. Paul drives it home: the Word is not far off, not locked in heaven or the deep, but near us, on our lips and in our hearts, and how beautiful are the feet of those who carry it forward.

Tenth Sunday After Pentecost

Today we read of how God meets us in the place of struggle, scarcity, and grief and transforms every one of them. Jacob wrestles through the night with the divine, refuses to let go without a blessing, and limps away with a new name and the mark of that encounter written on his body forever. Paul bears unceasing anguish for his own people, a reminder that genuine love costs something and that the gifts of God are never cause for triumphalism. Jesus, grieving and seeking solitude, is met by a hungry crowd. Rather than turning them away, he takes five loaves and two fish, blesses and breaks them, and feeds five thousand with twelve baskets left over. The church that cannot continue in safety without God’s help is also the church entrusted with more than enough to feed the world.
