The Crews Gap fire that started on Monday of last week burned into Coleman County and at one point in time on Thursday all residents of the Glen Cove area were evacuated. The fire was contained and all but a couple of houses were saved. The fire was within a few miles of our cemetery when it was controlled. The small Glen Cove Volunteer Fire Department was quick to respond on Monday and as of today the volunteers are still on the scene to watch for any flare up. Just as we need donations to maintain the cemetery, the GCVFD needs donations to help cover the cost of a week’s worth of fuel and maintenance on the trucks. GCVFD is small but essential to the area. If you can donate a little or a lot, please do so. Make you check to: Glen Cove VFD and mail to: Scott Beaver 578 CR 446 Talpa, TX 76882 Thank you for your donation and a special thank you to all the volunteers of GCVFD and the numerous other fire departments that came to help. The Texas Forest Service arrived last week and they still have equipment at the fire station.
