Listening to those you disagree with is not only a useful way to learn but an important quality of character. - Rabbi David Wolpe

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. I am reminded that they are not ashes to remind me that I came from and will return to dust, they are ashes to remind me that I am to never treat others as mere dirt; we are each the image and likeness of the Divine and animated by the breath of the Holy. My Lenton quest is to become a better neighbor, more loving and open to reencounter the miracle of Resurrection.

May your Lenten journey be richly blessed.

May your Christmas be filled with the wonder that comes from encountering anew love incarnate, love that could wrap its tiny fist around your finger, love with a belly button. Merry Christmas.

In the words of my favorite carol "He appeared and the soul felt its worth!" Merry Christmas from my family to yours.

As surely as Hope is a thing with feathers, longing to fly free, Shalom is a tree with roots. It binds us with not only what we hold dear, but also to the very best in ourselves. It plants us in soil that nourishes us, but that we nourish in return. It is relationship with the Holy and with neighbor, and ultimately, with ourselves.

What does Shalom/Peace mean to you? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Hope can be either a noun or a verb. If I have hope, it is a possession that I can put away on a shelf and forget when life is tough. If I hope, I am actively participating in shaping the world. The Hope of Advent is a verb in my opinion.
