If you are like me, sometime in your life you asked yourself, “How did l end up in this situation?”
It’s true, sometimes our circumstances are out of our control, but this is not always the case.
John 5:1-15 is the mention of a man who set by the pool, Bethesda, every day hoping to be the first to the pool when the water stirred. It was believed that an angel came down and entered the water, healing whoever the first was to enter the pool.
This man relied on others for 38 years to bring him food and beverage.
Jesus asked him, “Wilt thou be made whole?” The man said to Jesus he had no one to carry him to the water and others stepped in front of him.
Jesus wasn’t only asking the man if he wanted to be healed, he was asking him if he was ready to change. The man would need to care for himself and no longer rely on others to take care of him.
When the Israelites were freed from Egypt, food and shelter were no longer provided for them. They had to come about it themselves. The Israelites didn’t like the change and began murmuring that their life was better as a slave than being free (Exodus 14:12).
Sometimes in order to improve, work is required by us. Heavenly Father has a plan for each one of us. His plan may not always align with ours, but God knows what our capabilities are. We need to trust in Him and have faith that with His help, we can accomplish His will for us.
