There will not be services conducted at Wayfarers’ Chapel this Sunday, 4 August. This will help reduce highway traffic west of Wapiti.

The Clearwater Fire has expanded from 315 acres to 1193 in 4 days. The USFS has ordered evacuations of Elk Fork and Wapiti campgrounds. Sprinkler systems are being installed to minimize structural damage. Fuels reduction activity is ongoing. On Tuesday, the fire reached Highway 14/16/20 at the Elk Fork Bridge guard rail. Wyoming Highway Patrol closed the highway because of smoke on at least one occasion. Fire and emergency traffic is present. Fremont County has sent a Type 6 Engine with four crew members to assist. The fire weather report for today and Saturday is ”Extreme”. Wildfire is notoriously unpredictable, thus we exercise an abundance of caution.
