🦁 Meet Saint Mark the Evangelist

Here is a quick snapshot of the saint that gives his namesake to our church - his life, ministry, and lasting legacy:

📜 1. Discipline & Service
Before he was an author, Mark was a faithful companion in the early Church. He traveled alongside Paul and Barnabas (Acts 12:25) and later served as Peter’s close companion and interpreter (1 Peter 5:13), absorbing the firsthand accounts of Jesus' ministry.

✍️ 2. Author of the Gospel
Mark’s Gospel is the shortest and most action-oriented. Writing with a sense of urgency, he emphasizes Jesus as the suffering Son of Man, calling us to a life of active, courageous discipleship.

🌍 3. Founder of Alexandria
Tradition holds that Mark took the good news to North Africa, founding the See of Alexandria around 49 AD. He is revered as the very first Bishop in Africa, planting seeds of faith that continue to grow today.

🪶 4. Symbol & Patronage
In Christian art, St. Mark is symbolized by the Winged Lion. This represents courage, royalty, and the "voice crying out in the wilderness." He is also the celebrated patron saint of Venice, Italy.

Reflection for the Week:
St. Mark’s life was one of transition, growth, and ultimately, deep reconciliation. How is God calling you to step out in courage and mission this week?

Happy Trinity Sunday! Today in the Episcopal Church, we celebrate one of our seven Principal Feasts. While the theology of the Triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) is a beautiful mystery, celebrating it doesn't have to be complicated.

We are honoring the day with some playful "Three-in-One" food inspiration! From traditional European monastery pretzels to a local Florida favorite—Trinity Blueberry Pie—there are so many fun ways to bring theology to the kitchen table today. 🥧✨

Which of these are you craving for Sunday lunch? Let us know in the comments! 👇

Liturgical Note: Look out for white and gold in the church today, symbolizing joy, purity, and majestic light as we transition into Ordinary Time!

Bring your thoughts, your questions, and your doubts — there’s room for all of it here. Faith isn’t about having every answer; it’s about being willing to seek together. God welcomes honest questions, meaningful conversation, and open hearts.

Join us between services each Sunday for thoughtful discussion on the day’s reading. All are welcome.

Why do we have a Gospel procession?

In the Episcopal Church, a gospel procession is performed to symbolize Christ stepping into the world to dwell among humanity. By carrying the Book of the Gospels deep into the congregation, the church physically enacts the Good News, allowing the deacon to proclaim Christ's teachings directly to the people.

This Memorial Day, we pause with gratitude and prayer as we remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

May we honor their sacrifice by living with compassion, justice, and peace. We pray for all who mourn, for those who serve, and for God’s healing presence in our world.

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13

Wishing you a blessed and meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸
