If you are a newer Christian, ๐›๐ž ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ ๐ž๐!

Know your sins have been forgiven and you are in a love relationship with the Father. You donโ€™t deserve this, but it has been given to you by grace through faith.

If you are a mature Christian, ๐›๐ž ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ ๐ž๐!

The Lord has brought you through so much in overcoming evil and strengthening you through you abiding in His word.

If you are an elder Christian, ๐›๐ž ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ ๐ž๐!

You have helped the church continue and have helped develop other Christians through your abiding relationship with Christ.

Whatever stage of life you find yourself at, whatever generation of believer you are, ๐›๐ž ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ ๐ž๐ by the Lord and in His great, great love for you.

Today we celebrated our recent graduates as they go forth!

This can be a tumultuous time in someoneโ€™s life โ€” years of instruction culminating with a celebration. Change. Growing up. A new found freedom.

But then you face a tough question: ๐™’๐™๐™–๐™ฉ ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ข๐™š๐™จ ๐™ฃ๐™š๐™ญ๐™ฉ?

The Disciples faced the same question after the first Easter. Christ died. Christ was resurrected. He ascended to Heaven. ๐˜ฝ๐™ช๐™ฉ ๐™ฌ๐™๐™–๐™ฉ ๐™–๐™ง๐™š ๐™ฌ๐™š ๐™จ๐™ช๐™ฅ๐™ฅ๐™ค๐™จ๐™š๐™™ ๐™ฉ๐™ค ๐™™๐™ค?

The answer came 50 days after Easter Sunday: the day of a Pentecost. The Holy Spirit came down from Heaven, filled the room, and was poured out on all those who traveled to Jerusalem and were waiting for ๐˜ธ๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ต ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ๐˜น๐˜ต.

It was on the day of Pentecost that the church was born. The day Disciples began to โ€œget it.โ€

It was transformative for them. And because of it, the Christian Church began to grow.

๐Œ๐จ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ ๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐ ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ญ ๐ข๐ง๐Ÿ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ.

Deborah was a very accomplished woman. A mother, a wife, a prophetess, a warrior, and a judge. The only female judge mentioned in the Bible and one of the few prophetesses mentioned in the Bible. She was faithful and was leading Israel. Her influence was undeniable.

Lois and Eunice, mother and grandmother to Timothy influenced a young Timothy. Timothy would then follow the apostle Paul. Hannah influenced Samuel and did so much good.

The Bible is full of Godly women who had a major impact on the world. Sarah, Rebekah, Naomi, Jochebed, Hagar, Leah, Rachel, Elizabeth, Samsonโ€™s mother, Mary โ€” and many more.

So often it is a Motherโ€™s call which brings the lost back to God. Their influence in our lives is undeniable.

Many of the disciples were fishermen. The first time we hear about Peter in the book of Matthew, he was fishing in a lake with his brother. Jesus called them to follow Him and said he would make them fishers of men.

๐—”๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐˜† ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—น๐—น๐—ผ๐˜„๐—ฒ๐—ฑ.

Then things changed. Jesus was crucified. His tomb was found empty. The disciples saw him in the upper room.

๐–๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ก๐š๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ž๐ง๐ฌ ๐ง๐ž๐ฑ๐ญ?

Peter โ€” who had seen so much and had every reason to have changed his life โ€” is gathered with the others. And he tells them he is going to fish. Two other do plea go with him.

Peter spent three years of his life with Jesus and doing what Jesus said to do. But when Peter believed Jesus was gone, Peter went back to ๐ŸŽฃ. He went back to his old ways. The old Peter.

๐—•๐˜‚๐˜ ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐˜‚๐—ด๐—ต๐˜ ๐—ป๐—ผ๐˜๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด.

Jesus appears to them and tells them to cast their net on the right side of the boat and caught so many fish they couldnโ€™t put them all on the boat.

There are lots of monumental events in human history, but none of them as significant as the life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

There is nothing which comes close to completely changing the ๐ŸŒŽ like the Ressurection. Not the invention of ๐Ÿ”ฅ, ๐Ÿ“–, โ˜Ž๏ธ,๐Ÿ’ก, ๐Ÿš™, ๐Ÿ›ฉ๏ธ, ๐Ÿ’ป, or even ๐Ÿค–.

๐—œ๐˜ ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜†๐˜๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด. It was His resurrection which shapes the lives of so many. How we deal with problems. How we forgive. How we handle strife. How we handle joy. How we love. ๐‘ฏ๐’๐’˜ ๐’˜๐’† ๐’๐’Š๐’—๐’†.

It started the formation of the Church โ€” transforming anxious disciples meeting in secret rooms to a group ready to risk everything for the sake of Christ.

Imagine their surprise to find an empty tomb when they were expecting his body to be there. They were told time and time again what would happen and didnโ€™t fully understand. But that moment would change everything. They would soon understand there is no need to despair.

๐‰๐ž๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐‚๐ก๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž. ๐†๐จ๐ ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ฎ๐ฌ. ๐†๐จ๐ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ง ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐ž๐ญ๐ฌ. The resurrection is the defining moment in all of history โ€” and the world hasnโ€™t been the same since.

๐ต๐‘™๐‘’๐‘ ๐‘ ๐‘’๐‘‘ ๐‘–๐‘  ๐ป๐‘’ ๐‘คโ„Ž๐‘œ ๐‘๐‘œ๐‘š๐‘’๐‘  ๐‘–๐‘› ๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’ ๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘š๐‘’ ๐‘œ๐‘“ ๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’ ๐ฟ๐‘œ๐‘Ÿ๐‘‘!

Some 2,000 years ago the world was about to change forever. Holy Week began with Jesusโ€™s triumphant arrival. As he rode down the Mount of Olives, palm fronds were laid down celebrating his arrival.

The manner in which Jesus arrived was foretold many years before. By riding in on the foal of a donkey, Jesus was sending a clear message: ๐‡๐ž ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐Œ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐š๐ก. ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐Œ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐š๐ก ๐ก๐š๐ ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž.

And the people thought they understood. ๐‘ป๐’‰๐’†๐’š ๐’Ž๐’‚๐’š ๐’๐’๐’• ๐’‰๐’‚๐’—๐’† ๐’๐’๐’• ๐’Œ๐’๐’๐’˜๐’ ๐’˜๐’‰๐’‚๐’• ๐’˜๐’‚๐’” ๐’‚๐’ƒ๐’๐’–๐’• ๐’•๐’ ๐’‰๐’‚๐’‘๐’‘๐’†๐’. ๐‘ฉ๐’–๐’• ๐’•๐’‰๐’†๐’š ๐’•๐’‰๐’๐’–๐’ˆ๐’‰๐’• ๐’•๐’‰๐’†๐’š ๐’–๐’๐’…๐’†๐’“๐’”๐’•๐’๐’๐’… ๐’•๐’‰๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ๐’” ๐’˜๐’†๐’“๐’† ๐’‚๐’ƒ๐’๐’–๐’• ๐’•๐’ ๐’„๐’‰๐’‚๐’๐’ˆ๐’†.

Yet, Jesus knew. He knew what the week brought. He wept. He wept because they ๐๐ข๐ ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฐ๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ฐ๐š๐ฌ ๐š๐›๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ก๐š๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ž๐ง.

He wept because of His love for them. Because of his love for us. He wept because of the sins humanity had committed ๐š๐ง๐ ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐›๐ž๐ข๐ง๐  ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐ญ๐จ๐๐š๐ฒ.

Jesus came exactly the way he was prophesied he would appear. He fulfilled every part of the prophesy. Read that again โ€” ๐‡๐ž. ๐…๐ฎ๐ฅ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž๐. ๐„๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฒ. ๐๐š๐ซ๐ญ. ๐Ž๐Ÿ. ๐“๐ก๐ž. ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฉ๐ก๐ž๐ฌ๐ฒ.

As He crested the hill, He knew what was going to happen. His triumphant entry was just the start. ๐™ƒ๐™š ๐™˜๐™–๐™ฃ ๐™ข๐™–๐™ ๐™š ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐™จ๐™–๐™ข๐™š ๐™ฉ๐™ง๐™ž๐™ช๐™ข๐™ฅ๐™๐™–๐™ฃ๐™ฉ ๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ง๐™ฎ ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ค ๐™ฎ๐™ค๐™ช๐™ง ๐™๐™š๐™–๐™ง๐™ฉ โ€” ๐™ž๐™› ๐™ฎ๐™ค๐™ช ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ซ๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™š ๐™ƒ๐™ž๐™ข ๐™ž๐™ฃ.
