Saturday, 8/17/2024, I was thrilled that I reached another milestone in my journey. On August 17, 2024, I will receive the hooding for my Doctor of Ministry degree, officially known as Dr. Alroy Sylvester Henderson. My journey towards this degree has been a remarkable one. Despite facing some health challenges,
At 51, I returned to college and enrolled at The School of Theology (STVU) to pursue my Master of Divinity degree.
I graduated with the Class of 2014. During my second semester, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney failure and received a kidney transplant. Despite this setback, I was determined to keep going and worked to complete my Master of Arts in Christian Education degree with the STVU Class of 2015. Finally, while pursuing my doctoral degree, I was diagnosed with cancer, but I am proud to say that I am a survivor (2023).
This achievement holds immense significance beyond just being a title. It symbolizes years of hard work, commitment, and a strong desire to bring positive change to ministry. With this newly acquired expertise, I am enthusiastic about pursuing research, teaching, and training programs that can directly benefit the lives of those involved in ministry.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has supported me along this journey and who celebrates with me today, most of all my wife, Carolyn Friend Henderson. I am looking forward to the next chapter and making meaningful contributions to ministry since I am a "WINNER."
