Presiding Bishop and Chief Apostle J. Drew Sheard, along with the General Board, Mother Barbara McCoo Lewis, Lady Karen Clark Sheard, and the entire constituency of the Church Of God In Christ pause to reflect upon the extraordinary life of Mother Louise Dowdy Patterson. The widow of the late Presiding Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson, “Sister Lou,” as she was affectionately called, will be remembered for her radiant beauty, impeccable style, seasoned wisdom and uncompromised faith. She was an undeniable class act, and for many, an icon and mentor among First Ladies. Though our hearts are saddened by her passing, we rejoice in the knowledge of knowing “to be absent for the body, is to be present with the Lord.” Our prayers are with the Dowdy and Patterson families, especially her biological sister, Mother Frances Kelly, Co-Director of our Intercessory Prayer Ministry.
