Some mothers carry entire households on prayers nobody ever hears.
Before the sun rises, they are already awake… thinking, planning, worrying, praying.
Making breakfast while carrying silent burdens. Holding families together while trying not to fall apart themselves.
And sometimes, if we are honest, the world rarely pauses to ask how they are doing emotionally or spiritually. 💔
That is why God’s design for love, leadership, and support inside the home matters so deeply.
Ephesians 5:22-23 (KJV) says: “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.”
This scripture has often been misunderstood, especially in modern culture. During biblical times, this passage was not written to diminish women or silence mothers. It was written to establish spiritual order, responsibility, protection, and sacrificial leadership within the family structure.
In that culture, women often carried enormous responsibilities inside the home and community. Paul’s teaching pointed families back toward God-centered relationships where leadership was meant to reflect Christ — not control, pride, abuse, or selfishness.
And Christ’s leadership was never harsh. It was sacrificial. Protective. Patient. Loving.
A godly mother carries characteristics that reflect that same spirit every single day:
✨ Strength when exhausted
✨ Wisdom during chaos
✨ Prayer in private
✨ Grace under pressure
✨ Love that keeps showing up
But this passage also reminds us that healthy homes require spiritual maturity from everyone involved — not just mothers.
In today’s world, many women are carrying emotional loads they were never meant to carry alone. Some are leading homes spiritually without support. Some are healing from broken relationships. Some are trying to raise children while still healing from their own wounds.
Yet even there… God still trains, shapes, strengthens, and refines the heart of a godly mother. 🙏🏽
One practical lesson from this scripture is this:
A godly mother cannot pour from an empty spirit.
She must stay connected to God herself.
Not just for everyone else… but for her own healing, peace, wisdom, and strength.
That may look like:
☀️ Quiet prayer before the house wakes up
☀️ Choosing peace over constant conflict
☀️ Setting healthy spiritual boundaries
☀️ Allowing God to heal emotional wounds
☀️ Trusting God even when life feels uncertain
The truth is… being “godly” does not mean being perfect.
It means continuing to surrender to God while He develops your character through every season of life. And, sometimes the strongest mothers are the ones still standing long after battles nobody knew they were fighting.
So today, and everyday forward, take a moment to honor the women who kept loving, praying, sacrificing, teaching, correcting, nurturing, and trusting God through difficult seasons. Let's always be grateful and thankful to God for her.❤️
