Our Story
Mobile Church was founded by Bishop Dr. Bette Elizabeth Funn in 1975, from a bible study that originated from her home on Tuesday nights. Many souls were saved, lives were transformed, with miracles, signs and wonders following. In 1988, God directed Bishop Funn to "launch out into the deep," which was to leave her home and conduct the ministry where it was needed. The approach to this tremendous challenge led to area-wide crusades, followed by door-to-door witnessing, and canvassing for lost souls; street witnessing, outdoor services, and the Mobile Church Bible Study and Fellowship. The vision of Mobile Church, which was a "church without walls," began to crystallize as the church set out to provide for the needs of lost souls. God opened many doors of venues to preach, evangelize, and bring deliverance and healing to many. Bishop Funn continued to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, much like the children of Israel in the Old Testament did, on their journey to the Promised Land. Hence, the name "Mobile" denotes a church that is "on the move," spreading the gospel wherever God calls us to go and preach the good news outside the walls of the church. In August of 1996, Bishop Funn retired from the United States Government to enter into full-time ministry. God provided much training and development under Greater Campher Temple in hometown, Hagerstown, Maryland under the leadership of Bishop Derrick Kee, and later under the direction, annexation, and operation of King’s Apostle World Church Ministries. Bishop Funn received visionary training under Dr. Morris Cerullo for a number of years, which also opened a door for a trip to Jerusalem, parts of the Middle-East and eventually to Rome, Italy, & Vatican City.
In March of 2007, Mobile Church was reorganized and incorporated as "Mobile Church Ministries," as an established independent entity to carry on the original soul-saving vision that God had given to her for this ministry, with the ultimate goal of one day moving "from earth to glory."
