Dixie Jackson Arkansas Missions Offering
Week of Prayer - Day 8

Lostness is not just a distant problem overseas; it exists right outside our church doors, in our rural towns, and across our growing cities. God has placed each of us in a unique position to be His witness, and He often answers the prayer, “Send someone,” with the words, “I am sending you.”

As we pray today, ask God to make your heart available for whatever He calls you to do. He may lead you to share the gospel with a neighbor, serve someone in need, step into a time of crisis, or invest in the next generation. Whatever the assignment, He promises to go before those He sends.

The Dixie Jackson Arkansas Missions Offering helps create opportunities for Arkansas Baptists to live out that calling in communities across our state. As you pray today, ask God not only to send more workers into His harvest but also to give you the faith and courage to simply say, “Here am I. Send me.”

🙏🏽Pray that God will reveal where He is calling you to step out in faith and serve those around you.
🙏🏽Pray for the courage to share the gospel faithfully and to use every opportunity God provides to point others to Christ.

Dixie Jackson Offering Week of Prayer

Ethan Taylor spent years searching for answers about who he was and what his life was meant to be. Today, he walks the University of Arkansas campus helping students wrestle with those same questions – and pointing them toward the hope that reshaped his own life.

"I get to witness firsthand how God's moving in these college students. He really is doing something incredible on this campus and campuses all across the world," Taylor said. "It's my favorite thing in the world, and I just love my job."

Taylor serves with the Baptist Collegiate Ministry at the University of Arkansas while pursuing a Master of Theology degree through Cross Theological Seminary, a ministry of Cross Church. Together, those opportunities are allowing him to grow as a ministry leader while serving on one of Arkansas' largest mission fields.

Adopted as an infant, Taylor spent much of his life searching for answers about his identity and purpose. Those questions often left him battling anxiety, depression, and a lingering sense that something was missing.

“There was a hole in my heart that I just kept seeking to fill,” Taylor said.

That search continued into college, where he took a job at a Christian camp. It was there, Taylor said, that he realized he did not yet have a personal relationship with Christ. “I went on to give my life to Jesus, and it changed my life forever,” he said.

Not long afterward, he sensed God calling him into ministry.

As he grew in his faith, Taylor became convinced he needed theological training to prepare for whatever God had ahead. After completing his undergraduate degree, he began exploring seminary options and was introduced to Cross Theological Seminary in Northwest Arkansas.

The seminary's mission to equip pastors, missionaries and ministry leaders immediately resonated with him.

During his admissions interview, Taylor was asked why he wanted to attend.

His answer was simple.

"I've been called, but I haven't been equipped."

Today, seminary education and ministry experience go hand in hand.

While studying theology and ministry at Cross, Taylor is simultaneously serving students at the University of Arkansas, helping them navigate questions about faith and encouraging them to grow as disciples of Christ.

He has already seen God working in remarkable ways.

During a recent outreach effort, Taylor and other students approached a group of young men and asked if they could share a story. Most declined, but one student stayed behind to listen.

As Taylor shared the gospel, the student began to cry. He told Taylor his father, who had passed away a couple of years earlier, had always encouraged him to chase Jesus. He said he had been “waiting to hear that message.”

The conversation ended with the student placing his faith in Christ.

For Taylor, stories like that reinforce the importance of investing in ministry leaders who can faithfully serve where God has placed them.

"Ministry is where your feet are at," he said. "Right now, that's here on campus."

The support of Arkansas Baptists helps make that ministry possible.

Through gifts to the Dixie Jackson Arkansas Missions Offering, ministries across the state are strengthened and future leaders are equipped for service. That support allows students like Taylor to receive theological training while actively serving in ministry contexts.

Instead of worrying about educational expenses, he is able to focus on preparing for a lifetime of gospel ministry and investing in students who are searching for the same hope he once sought.

"Because of that, I get to focus solely on these college students and share the good news with them," Taylor said. "I'm just so thankful that I get to do that."

As Arkansas Baptists give through the Dixie Jackson Arkansas Missions Offering, they are doing more than supporting programs. They are helping equip leaders who will serve churches, campuses and communities across Arkansas and beyond for years to come.

For Taylor, that investment has already made an eternal difference – both in his life and in the lives of the students he now serves.

Dixie Jackson Arkansas Missions Offering
Week of Prayer - Day 2

Christopher Serpico never expected a block party to change the direction of his life. After surviving liver failure in 2019, the Arkansas father says he began confronting the life he had built as a self- described militant atheist marked by addiction, anger and spiritual emptiness. Near death and hospitalized, Serpico said he prayed for the first time in years, asking for more time so he could be a better father to his young daughter.

In the months that followed, Serpico’s wife, Amber, who grew up in church, began feeling drawn back to faith. As the couple discussed returning to church, Chris eventually attended a neighborhood block party hosted by First Baptist Church in Monette as part of Arkansas Baptists’ One Day Mission Trip.

At the event, Serpico met Pastor Jared Russell, who encouraged him that no one is beyond God’s grace. Later, Serpico surrendered his life to Christ. Today, Serpico and his family attend church regularly, participate in Bible study and describe a renewed sense of purpose rooted in faith and community.

🙏🏽Pray for those in our communities who feel far from God, that they would encounter the gospel in personal, unexpected ways.
🙏🏽Pray for Arkansas Baptists as they engage in local mission opportunities like One Day - that these moments would open doors for gospel conversations.
🙏🏽Pray for families who are spiritually exploring or divided in faith, that God would draw entire households to Himself.
