The Diocese of Raleigh joyfully announces the upcoming ordination to the transitional diaconate of Gabriel Nugent and Leonardo E. Lopez on April 11, 2026, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Raleigh.

In the days leading up to this important moment in their vocational journeys, the Office of Vocations is inviting the faithful throughout the diocese to unite in prayer through a novena for Gabriel and Leonardo, beginning April 3 and concluding on the morning of their ordination, April 11.

In a quiet chapel, Padre Pio knelt in deep prayer before a crucifix.
Suddenly, a sharp pain pierced his hands. When he looked, wounds like those of Christ had appeared, bleeding, real, and mysterious.
He didn’t cry out. He simply bowed his head and whispered,
“Let me share in Your suffering.”
From that day on, he carried the stigmata in silence, turning pain into prayer for others.
