📖 Pastor's Corner | When I Woke Up This Morning! (Stubborn)

Have you ever been told something repeatedly, but decided you were going to do things your own way anyway?

Pastor Robert E. Slade's latest "When I Woke Up This Morning!" message takes a thoughtful look at stubbornness—and reminds us that sometimes what we call being strong-minded may actually be our refusal to listen.

Using the example of the mule, Pastor Slade points out an interesting distinction: perhaps the mule isn't stubborn at all. Maybe it is cautious enough to recognize danger and refuse to move forward.

But what happens when we refuse to listen to wise counsel, ignore correction, or resist God's direction?

Scripture gives us several powerful examples, including Pharaoh's hardened heart and the Israelites' repeated rebellion against God.

Proverbs 29:1 reminds us of the danger of continually refusing correction.

As children return to school, Pastor Slade also encourages parents, educators, and the entire community to be patient with young people who may be headstrong or resistant. Instead of responding with frustration, let's pray, remain calm, and place difficult situations in God's hands.

Take a moment to ask yourself:

Am I being cautious—or am I simply being stubborn?

Am I willing to listen when God sends someone to give me wise counsel?

There is power in prayer.

Before we move into another weekend, let's pause and bring our families, our church, our communities, and our concerns before God.

Whatever you're facing today, you don't have to carry it alone.

Bring your burdens.
Bring your questions.
Bring your hopes.
Bring your praise.

Most importantly, bring them to God.

📖 Pastor's Corner | When I Woke Up This Morning! (Laziness)

"When I woke up this morning, I thought I heard the voice of God telling me that today was a do nothing day, but in reality it was my wife sharing my to-do list for the day." 😂

Pastor Robert E. Slade begins this week's message with a little humor, but the message that follows is serious:

What does the Bible teach us about work, diligence, responsibility, and laziness?

In "When I Woke Up This Morning! (Laziness)," Pastor Slade challenges us to examine our work ethic and reminds us that hard work, regardless of the position or circumstances, can open doors and build character.

The Bible tells us:

"All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty." — Proverbs 14:23

Whether you're working toward a career, raising a family, building a business, searching for employment, or simply trying to accomplish the goals God has placed before you, don't give up.

Do what you can.
Give your best.
Keep moving forward.
Trust God with the results.

📖 Sunday's Message Reflection

Today's Scripture:
Habakkuk 2:4–6

Sometimes it feels like those who choose dishonesty, pride, or selfish gain are getting ahead. But the prophet Habakkuk reminds us that God sees everything, and His justice will prevail in His perfect time.

One of the most powerful verses from today's message is:

"The righteous shall live by his faith." — Habakkuk 2:4

As Pastor Robert E. Slade reminded us today, our calling is not to compare ourselves to others or become discouraged by what we see around us. Instead, we are to remain faithful, trust God's timing, and live according to His Word.

Faith means believing God is working—even when we can't yet see the outcome.

As you begin this new week, ask yourself:

• Am I trusting God's plan even when I don't understand it?
• Am I living by faith rather than by fear or circumstances?
• How can my faith encourage someone else today?

Let's continue to walk by faith, stand firm in God's promises, and remember that He is always faithful.

Thank you, Pastor Slade, for reminding us that a life rooted in faith is a life that honors God.
