Welcome February! There are so many special days this month: Groundhog Day, the Super Bowl, Valentine's Day, Presidents' Day, National Pizza Day (yes, that's a thing.) With so many special days, I think we should create National Preplanning Final Arrangements Day. It would help spotlight an important, yet oft overlooked event. Have you preplanned? If not, I'd love to assist you with that. You can call me at 586-412-6226.

I stumbled upon this article recently and found it just a tiny bit comical that it's for kids. Personally, I think mostly adults would find it interesting. I don't know, maybe the next time you're around the kiddos in your life, share some of the facts from this write-up and see if they like it. At the very least they'll learn a thing or two. :-)
Have a great weekend!

Do you know what TOMORROW is? NATIONAL PIE DAY! One of my joys when relocating here was discovering MI's very own Achatz Handmade Pie Company. In honor of tomorrow's big day, they have some specials I discovered that I'm passing on to you. (see link.) What's your favorite pie flavor?

What an incredible story! We can find strength by learning from the the lives of the saints.

Although not much is known about the life of St. Agnes, there are many stories passed down since her martyrdom in the fourth century.

There was a time the Catholic Church forbade cremation, but not any more. Here's a brief look at the history of cremation in the RCC. If you're interested in selecting Resurrection Cemetery for your final resting place, please call me: 586-412-6226.

Recently, the Vatican issued updated rules on how to treat cremated remains. Here is a brief history, plus an explanation of where things stand now.

Dear Lord,

We pray that this New Year will bring us closer to You.

May we take the time to get to know You.

Help us to truly celebrate the gifts You have graciously given us and use them to serve You and spread Your word,

May we also see and love you in all the people we meet, so that in turn, they can see You in us.

We know that all human relations take time if they are to grow and deepen.
This is also true of our relations with You, the Father and the Holy Spirit, which must grow over the course of our lives.

In this new year,
let us realize that every action of ours
no matter how great or small
enables us to be in touch with You.
Let us accept You in our lives,
in the way it pleases You,
as Truth, to be spoken,
as Life, to be lived,
as Light, to be lighted,
as Love, to be followed,
as Joy, to be given,
as Peace, to be spread about,
as Sacrifice, to be offered among our relatives,
friends, neighbours and all people.

Amen.

Happy New Year from all of us at Resurrection Cemetery!
