HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope, turns 70 today 🎂

09/07/2025

Pope Leo XIV will canonize Blessed Carlo Acutis on Sunday, Sept. 7. Carlo is the first Catholic saint of the millennial generation, elevating him to the same level as Mother Teresa and Francis of Assisi.

Born in 1991, Carlo used his technological skills to evangelize and stood out for his joyful faith and compassion for others. He developed websites for his parish and the wider Catholic Church.

Carlo, sometimes referred to as "God's influencer," learned several computer coding languages before his death and built websites to spread his faith.

In 2020, the Catholic Church recognized Carlo's first miracle, involving a 4-year-old Brazilian boy who was determined to be healed from a serious pancreatic birth defect. After the boy’s mother prayed to Carlo in 2013, her son experienced a sudden and complete recovery.

On September 7, 2025, the Catholic Church will witness a historic moment: the canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, two young men whose lives—though separated by almost a century—continue to inspire countless people around the world. The announcement was made by Pope Leo XIV on June 13, confirming that the two ceremonies, originally scheduled separately, would be united into one great celebration.

Pope Leo XIV will preside over the Mass and canonizations of the two young blesseds from St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. This will air live at 3 a.m. ET and the encore presentation will be at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 7 on EWTN.

The joint canonization of Acutis and Frassati is especially symbolic. One harnessed technology to spread the Gospel; the other climbed mountains while lifting up the poor. Both remind us that holiness is not confined to a single path. Whether through coding, hiking, serving, or simply living with joy, sanctity is possible in every age and every lifestyle.

Their canonization is not just about remembering the past, but about shaping the present. It is a living invitation: to recognize that holiness is attainable today—in our families, our work, our friendships, and even our digital lives.

Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati, soon-to-be saints, pray for us and for the youth of our time, that we may follow Christ with joy, courage, and love.
