What do our desires reveal about our hearts? James calls us away from friendship with the world and toward humble repentance, wholehearted submission to God, and gracious speech. And the good news is this: though our sin is great, God gives greater grace.

Join Us for Bible Study — Wednesday October 14 at 6:00pm!

This week in Foundations of Spiritual Growth, we’ll explore Chapter 20, “Justification and Assurance.”

Together, we’ll discover how:
#1. God declares believers righteous through Christ’s finished work #2. Our assurance rests on God’s truth—not changing feelings or circumstances
#3. The Holy Spirit confirms and strengthens our faith through the Word.
#4. Fixing our eyes on Jesus leads us toward spiritual maturity

Main Passage: Romans 5:1–2 — "Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, (2) through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God."

From the Pastor’s Heart
“May We Seek the God Who Reveals Himself”

Grace Memorial Baptist Church, and all fellow believers, may we lift our hearts and behold the majesty of the God we worship. His greatness is unspeakable; His glory is beyond the reach of human words. He dwells in “light unapproachable” (1 Timothy 6:16), and no human mind can fully grasp the wonder of who He is.

Yet this same God—holy, hidden, and infinitely glorious—has chosen to reveal Himself. Though His name is too great for our tongues, He has made Himself known through prophet and psalmist, apostle and saint. He invites us to seek Him, to know Him, and to draw near. “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).

So may we pursue whatever God has been pleased to disclose of Himself. May we search out His truth as treasure more precious than rubies, more valuable than the finest gold. “The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether… more to be desired than gold” (Psalm 19:9–10). Let nothing in this world rival the worth of knowing Him.

For the day will come when the stars fade, when the heavens roll away, when all earthly things pass into silence—yet He will remain. “The heavens will vanish like smoke… but My salvation will be forever” (Isaiah 51:6). And those who have sought Him, loved Him, and trusted Him will live with Him forever.

So, may we set our hearts on the One who endures. May we seek Him while He may be found. May we treasure Him above all else. May we live for the God who will outlast the twilight and stand when all creation is gone.

This is my prayer in Jesus’ name, - Amen.
