From time to time the Clifton Hill Cemetery Association will highlight the history of our our local burial subjects. I've ran across Mr. Elmer E. Ehrhardt numerous times throughout the years & became interested in learning more of his story due to his service in WWII & the fact his life ended at such an early age. Mr. Ehrhardt was born in Randolph County, the son of Clarence Eugene & Kathryn Irene Rogers Ehrhardt. He served as a Sergeant/Gun Commander in Company B of the 661st Tank Destroyer Battalion. This battalion served an integral part in the defeat of N**i Germany in 1945. Following the war Mr. Ehrhardt worked as a coal miner & was tragically killed in the Hanna Basin Mines, in Hanna Wyoming. He was survived by his wife, parents & three siblings.
