AN OPEN LETTER TO MY FELLOW LIBERIANS:
UNDERSTAND POLITICS, BUT END THE MADNESS OF OVER-POLITICIZATION_

My dear Liberian brothers and sisters,
From Monrovia to Maryland, from Gbarnga to Clifton Heights,
I greet you with the peace our nation so desperately needs.
Liberia, we have a problem. And the problem is not politics.
The problem is that we have made politics our god, our food, and our fight.
LET’S UNDERSTAND POLITICS — THE RIGHT WAY
Politics, at its core, is “the business of the city”. It is how we decide who gets the road, who gets the school, who gets the clinic.
Joseph did politics in Egypt and saved nations Gen 41.
Daniel did politics in Babylon and kept his faith Dan 6.
Esther did politics in Persia and rescued a people Esther 4:14.
So yes, Liberia: We MUST understand politics.
We must vote. We must hold leaders accountable. We must know the Constitution.
Proverbs 29:2 – “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice.”
Your PVC is not just a card. It’s stewardship.
But my people, understanding politics is not the same as worshipping it.
LET’S STOP THE MADNESS OF OVER-POLITICIZATION
Over-politicization is when:
We see enemies, not neighbors – Because he wore red and you wore green, you won’t buy from his shop. We’ve turned counties into camps.
We politicize funerals, weddings, and church – Even the pulpit becomes a campaign platform. We clap for party slogans more than we clap for Scripture.
We replace development with debate – On Facebook we’re ministers of defense. But in our communities, the bridges are still broken and the schools still have no benches.
We raise children on party, not on purpose – A 10-year-old knows how to insult a minister, but doesn’t know how to plant cassava.
This madness is eating us.
We fought 14 years of war with guns. We are now fighting 20 years of peace with our mouths.
The country is not developing because politics has left the Capitol and entered our kitchens, our churches, and our hearts.
THE BIBLICAL WARNING
2 Timothy 2:4 – “No soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, for his aim is to please the one who enlisted him.”
Liberia, we are entangled. We cannot build when all we do is blame.
Mark 3:25 – “If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”
CDC, UP, CPP, ANC — these are parties, not tribes. But we’ve made them tribal.
Christ is not divided. Why is Liberia?
MY PLEA TO YOU, LIBERIA
To the Politicians: Lead us, don’t divide us. Romans 13:4 – “He is God’s servant for your good.” Your job is roads, not rhetoric. Schools, not slogans.
To the Church: Be prophetic, not partisan. The pulpit is for the Word, not for a wing. Pray for ALL leaders 1 Tim 2:1-2, don’t campaign for some.
To the Youth: Put down the phone and pick up a skill. You cannot eat retweets. Liberia needs farmers, coders, nurses, and builders more than it needs bloggers of bitterness.
To the Diaspora: Stop exporting division. When you send money, send wisdom too. Don’t fund chaos in the name of “my party.”
To All of Us: Let’s compete on ideas, not insults. Let’s disagree without destroying. After election, Liberia must still be here.
A NEW WAY FORWARD
I propose “Liberia First Politics”:
After elections, we govern together – The winner must serve all. The loser must support development.
Church, Mosque, School = No-Politics Zones – Let these be places of healing, not hearing campaign speeches.
One Day a Month of National Service – No party colors. Just Liberians cleaning, building, teaching.
Teach Civics Again – Our children should recite the Constitution before they recite party chants.
Liberia, we are too small to hate, and too blessed to fail.
We survived rubber, iron ore, war, and Ebola. We will not die by the sword of our own tongues.
Politics is important. But Liberia is more important.
Our mothers need clinics more than they need comrades.
Our children need books more than they need ballots every day.
So understand politics. Engage it. Vote in it.
But worship God, love neighbor, and build Liberia.
Then we will truly break new ground.
