A note and a prayer from our District Superintendent:

Valley Ridge District, as you may have seen in the news, one of our communities experienced a school shooting today. Thankfully no lives were lost, but the fear and trauma are very real. I offer this prayer and invite you to join me in praying it.

Merciful God,
Who calls us to beat our swords in to plowshares and spears into pruning hooks,
Who call us to not return evil for evil,
Who sent the Prince of Peace to save us,
We pray to for anyone, anywhere, who is affected by these acts of violence today at Westwood Elementary School in Waynesboro.
For the person injured in the shooting,
For teachers, students, and staff who have been traumatized and harmed by this experience,
For the first responders who responded to the emergency,
For those who will care for all of these persons in the days to come,
We pray to you. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Congratulations to Reverend Paul Creasey!

Today's clergy introduction, Rev. Paul Creasey, isn't new to our district, but is now serving two Valley Ridge churches, Elliotts Hill United Methodist Church and CF Central United Methodist Church. Additionally, his other full time job is a paralegal for a criminal defense attorney. Paul is married to Maria who is a photographer and has three kids.

Paul is passionate about worship, discipleship, youth, and visitation and is excited about serving and growing his hometown church.

In his spare time he enjoys riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and his first job was as a farmer.

Welcome [back] to the Valley Ridge District, Paul!

Throwback Thursday! 📜⛪

Today we’re taking a look back more than 130 years into the history of Methodism in Clifton Forge!

These historic pages, dating from the 1890s, give us a fascinating glimpse into the early Methodist community in our town—its people, worship, pastors, and the faith that was taking root in Clifton Forge.

It’s amazing to think that the stories and names recorded on these pages are part of the heritage that helped shape the Methodist congregation we know today as Central United Methodist Church.

From one generation to the next, God has continued to work through His people in this community. We are grateful for those who came before us, faithful in their time, and we pray that we will continue that same legacy of faith for generations to come.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8

We had a great time at coffee hour this morning celebrating Violet’s birthday. Pastor Paul shared a short devotional with us, and then we celebrated with sausage muffins, coffee, and pumpkin spice poundcake. Happy birthday, Violet!
