Since March of 2020, we’ve been doing Wednesday evening messages. The reason for the Wednesday messages was COVID. People were isolated from going to church and frankly, many were frightened because of the unknown in the air… It still appears that many are still isolated and frankly, desperate for what they don’t know, a relationship with Jesus Christ!
The context of the vast majority of these messages have been dwelling in the love of Jesus Christ. Dwelling in a place that only He is. Dwelling in safety and wellbeing. The impact of those several hundred messages has been amazing. Most everyone who spends the time to listen to them have received a touch from God as the result.
For those of us who profess to be Born Again Christians, we seem to have some conflicts. Conflicts in what the Bible says, conflicts with other Born Again Christians and certainly conflicts with a lost, desperate world. Let’s face it, darkness is everywhere. It always has been. The reason a relationship with Jesus is so powerful, is that He accepts us as we are. He doesn’t pre-judge us based on our looks, our language, our attitude, the color of our skin, our political views or any thing else. But we do… Well meaning Christians, following Christ, find it incredibly important to share judgement, condemnation, correction and spiritual ex*****on of people who are lost or even more importantly, don’t agree with what they believe. Think about Jesus. While He was on earth, He repeatedly encountered people who didn’t agree with Him. In fact, some disagreed so much that they took it upon themselves to find a reason to kill Him. What was His response to those that did’t agree? How did He interact with them? Did He tell them they were wrong? Did Jesus ever once justify himself? Did He ever argue with someone to get them to “finally” agree with His view point? He didn’t. He cared for all of them. He spoke the truth in love. That’s all. His view point was that His enemies, were worth dying for.
What about us? Are we in the routine of showing compassion, grace and mercy to all others? Or are we trying to convince others that our way is the only right way to live? Are we judging others so regularly that the Love of Christ can’t coexist with others sins…?
I’m sharing these thoughts tonight because frankly, time is of the essence. Nowhere in the Bible does it say we are to judge, condemn or correct another soul. What it says is profoundly simple,
John 14:6 “Jesus answered, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Jesus gave His life for us to find ours. For us to have a relationship with the Father through Him. Grace hits different now than ever before.
There has never been a time in history, where the power of a relationship with Jesus Christ has been more important. Accepting others in spite of sin…IS WHAT JESUS DID! Hate the sin, but LOVE THE SINNER! That’s what he did for you and me…He loved us enough to indulge our misgivings and offer us that relationship, He brings choices that result in a change of heart.
Luke 6:37-38
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
No one was ever judged into a relationship with Christ. No One was ever condemned into a relationship with Jesus. How about you? What brought you into a relationship with Christ…Why does it matter?
Is Jesus your way, your truth and your life?
Blessings,
Chris
