Cleveland Friends Meeting - Quakers

Cleveland Friends Meeting - Quakers Cleveland Friends Meeting is an unprogrammed Quaker meeting. We gather in expectant silence every Sunday (First Day) at 11 AM. Everyone is welcome!

Cleveland Friends Meeting, or more formally known as the Cleveland Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends, is an unprogrammed
Quaker Meeting affiliated with Lake Erie Yearly Meeting. We worship together every week on Sunday at 11 am. We respect 'that of God in everyone' and welcome people of all faiths and none. Childcare can be provided every Sunday. In addition, First Day School is open whe

n in session to the children of all members, attenders, and visitors. We gather in worshipful silence, intending to open ourselves wholly to the Divine Spirit, which we believe is within and beyond each person. Our worship has no human leader and no planned program. Sometimes no words are spoken; sometimes a person is led to minister vocally. Each person present contributes to the depth of worship we reach as a group. The meeting is ended, usually after about an hour, by shaking of hands initiated by persons appointed to do so. Visitors are invited to join us for a social period following the rise of Meeting for Worship, and to sign the visitors' book.

Friends,
Due to the weather, we will have Meeting for Worship by Zoom only tomorrow. No in-person gathering. The Zoom Meeting will be accessible by the usual link.

We had planned to meet regarding the new building at rise of Meeting, and to have a First Day School farewell celebration. Both events will be rescheduled.

Peace. Everyone stay safe and warm.

“Quakerism at its best gives people space to follow individual leadings with communal support,” she shares. “In some cases, the meeting as a body feels in alignment with a person’s leading and is willing to take it under its care.”

Eileen Flanagan shares on her minute of religious service, her background, and her latest book Common Ground.
