On October 11, St. Timothy's, Macedonia welcomed Canon for Innovation the Rev. Audra Abt for worship and conversation around deepening relationships with neighbors and creating more pathways for developing faith in community. St. Timothy's is a warm, generous, joyful community who seeks to love and serve others in the name of Jesus.

St. Timothy's has a ministry of opening its doors and sharing space with Alcoholics Anonymous, su***de loss grief support groups, and organizations who work with local retirees as they discern their next phase of life. As they discern pathways for deeper relationships with their wider community, St. Timothy's is looking for opportunities to connect with and listen to the perspectives of young people and emerging adults to learn more about what God is already doing among them - and, then asking together what God might be calling this community to do together!

On October 11, Canon Russ led a liturgy of leave-taking for Fr. John Drymon and the community of Trinity Church, Findlay. After ten years of faithful ministry at Trinity, Fr. John has accepted a new position in Central New York.

The service was a beautiful celebration of their shared ministry, featuring string music, many visiting guests, and a letter from Bishop Anne. A joyful reception followed, filled with heartfelt speeches, gifts, fellowship, lunch, and, of course, cake!

Many blessings to Fr. John, Annie, and the entire Trinity Church community as they enter this new chapter of ministry!

Trinity Cathedral, Cleveland, and its Dean and clergy welcomed Canon Rosalind Hughes to all three Sunday services on October 11, as well as hosting a forum on what it means to be and to become connected in Beloved Community across the Diocese of Ohio. This congregation is intentional about the ways in which, as the cathedral of the diocese, it uses particular gifts of connection and outreach not only in its local communities, but in the diocese and beyond. In his announcements of various opportunities for connection during the services, Dean Owens referred to the aspect of stewardship that is tending to relationships and showing up for each other. It is a blessing to show up in and be embraced by this faith community!

Ever since St. Paul’s Medina, celebrated 200 years as a faith community they have organized Oktoberfest for their entire city to enjoy.

The event held on the very sunny afternoon Saturday September 26, featured traditional German music, costumes, competitions, and a community theatre performance of songs from The Sound of Music that entertained the spirited crowd.

Of special note this year was a dunk tank organized by Deacon Barb Telfer who invited deacons to help. Deacon Daniel Hinde and Archdeacon Bryan Gillooly dove in whole heartedly, and occasionally got in over their heads. They and the rector, the Rev. Kelly Aughenbaugh demonstrated their commitment to the diaconal charge to “carry out other duties assigned to you from time to time.”

The 8th annual Oktoberfest is a testament to this faith community’s commitment to bring people together from around the city and raise funds for their community and outreach ministries.

The Rev. George Baum began as Priest-in-Charge at Church of the Ascension, Lakewood this month! Congratulations to the Rev. George and the Ascension community. God is doing amazing things in the Diocese of Ohio!
