This past Sunday, Interim Canon for Finance and Operations Christopher Whitaker enjoyed a festive visit with the thriving and welcoming faith community of St. Andrew’s Elyria as they celebrated a vibrant Pentecost Sunday.
The congregation was a sea of red in celebration of “The Birthday of the Church,” commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and marking the 50-day observance that culminates the Easter season.
Red balloons filled the air as Rector June Hardy Dorsey led the community with abundant energy throughout the morning. Young parishioners shared their interpretations of Pentecost and joyfully led the congregation in singing “Happy Birthday” to the Church.
The celebration concluded with a post-service luncheon filled with fellowship, joy, and community as all gathered to mark this special day in the life of the Church.

Today at Christ Church Episcopal, Hudson, Ohio, we gathered for a full day of worship, learning, and celebration. Morning Prayer grounded the day, followed by workshops on missional communities, worship leadership, finance, welcome, stewardship, and more. We then gathered for Holy Eucharist and Regional Confirmation, celebrating those who were confirmed, received, and reaffirmed, and closed the day with a joyful reception.

Yesterday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Canton, OH, we gathered in prayer, leadership, and beloved community. The day included Morning Prayer on Zoom, Noonday Prayer, a luncheon for wardens, diocesan staff office hours, and an intergenerational workshop on spiritual practices that deepen beloved community and strengthen our faith communities. We closed the evening in quiet prayer with Compline. We are looking forward to our last day of Regional Gathering at Christ Church, Hudson!

What a meaningful day at St. Paul's Episcopal Akron, OH. We paused for prayer, shared meals and conversation, connected with diocesan staff and CPG resources, and ended the evening reflecting with Bishop Jolly on the life and future of the Diocese of Ohio. We are grateful for all who came ready to listen, share, and imagine what God is calling us toward next. See you tomorrow at St. Paul's, Canton for day 2 of our Regional Gathering!

This past Sunday, Canon for Innovation and Congregational Development, the Rev. Audra Abt, visited Church of the Epiphany, Euclid to celebrate worship on the Feast of Pentecost. She also met with the vestry to do a one-year check-in on their shared ministry with St. Andrew, Mentor. They celebrate God's Spirit drawing their two faith communities closer in fellowship, worship, and formation, and acknowledge the desire to grow in capacity to share communication strategies and practices for neighborhood mission development and partnerships.
