Prayers please! Yesterday, First Friday afternoon, we had conversations with two expectant moms who were leaving and still undecided out on Shaker Blvd. The first one was a bit younger and seemed surprised and a bit excited about the support and resources we were able to offer her. The second undecided mom seemed to be facing more challenges. We showed her the brochure in the backpack we provided and some of the options that also provided housing. She was interested. Her friend the driver was in a bit of a hurry. I wished we had more time.

And some great news. A non-English speaking couple was pulling out and stopped for a backpack. The expectant mom smiled at the baby toy that was included. She patted her belly and said "two." "Twins?" we asked. "Yes," she beamed. I encouraged her to call Womankind and a couple of others for "free help." She nodded. And then a big smile when we offered her a couple Rosaries! We joyously gave her a big box of diapers and a few baby outfits. Smiles and kindness are an international language...it was a great moment.

It all starts this Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Oratory on E41 and Superior at 9am. I have found first Saturday there to be particularly efficacious. And the Sacred Heart Society meeting (to which all are invited) is a great way to meet some new and like-minded fellow Catholics.

And yes, Confessions are always heard starting 30 minutes before every Mass. Can't Make it Saturday, low Mass Sunday at 8am and High Mass Sunday at 10:30am.

Update on "Heroic Mom." Six months ago, you may remember, a woman driving by saw our “Free Baby Clothes” sign and pulled over.

“Do you really give away free baby clothes? Because my niece just took in a newborn, and all the baby’s siblings who are ages 2, 3, 4 and 5… and she already has four children of her own.”

There was a tremendous outpouring of love. An online "shower" to help the entire family and a great event at Benedictine High School. An amazing response thanks to many of you here.

Last week, we heard from a wonderful family who wanted to donate the awesome sectional couch in the pic to "Heroic Mom.". When we made plans to drop it off, we learned that Friday was her birthday.

She and all the kids are doing great. Keep her and her family in your prayers. She could still use some help with a better housing situation. Thank you again to all the tremendously kind people out there.

"Can I have two of those (pointing at Rosaries)? My daughter is in there and just changed her mind. She's keeping her baby."

A friend had just given us 200 new Rosaries to distribute the day before. It was the feast of St Augustine. The weather was glorious. We new it was going to be a good day as we prayed on Shaker Blvd.

The biggest two highlights came quick. We'll roll the tape back five minutes. A smiling young mom with her window down tells us she just saw her ultrasound and she's keeping here baby. She excitedly takes our backpack full of stuff for expectant moms & list of resources and drives off saying "you are so kind."

Almost immediately thereafter, a woman who had been waiting in the parking lot gets out of her car and walks over to our table near where we are praying on the sidewalk. She is very nice. We offer her a snack bag. And then she drops the stunning request/announcement:

"Can I have two of those (pointing at Rosaries)? My daughter is in there and just changed her mind. She's keeping her baby."

We talk a bit about all the help available and offer to help in anyway. She was excited and gracious. She promises to stop by with daughter on way out.

A bit later, the same woman stops by as she driving out. She is now with her daughter who is now keeping her baby. Everyone was full of joy. We gave her some baby outfits and more Rosaries. Snack bags all around. They promise to come back when her baby is born and to reach out should they ever need anything. It was one of the better moments in that sidewalks history.

Please continue to pray!

A friend just dropped off 200 Rosaries. The new school year means lots of foot traffic. We meet so many students as we pray on Friday afternoons and the students love receiving Rosaries. And the vast majority support Life. We are changing that neighborhood one soul at a time. Pray for our success.
