The early Church didn't grow by hyper-focusing on its Judas's. And that is the great thing about Catholic author and evangelizer Kevin Wells. He is actively shining light on modern day Catholic heroes:

"...For nearly a decade, I’ve written about saints, venerables, sacrificial priests, and even hermits hidden away in forests. As I’ve researched their lives—or at times walked in their shadow from before dawn until long past nightfall with Fr. Dan Leary at Girlstown in Chalco, Mexico, Fr. Jonathan Meyer in Dearborn County, Indiana, and Fr. Michael Champagne in a small town in Louisiana—I have consistently found myself overwhelmed by the magnitude of what a human being can accomplish in a single day when wholly given over to God...."

Another must read from Wells:

Since The Wellspring first began to flow into the digital wilderness in February, one thing has become clear: readers respond to heroes, and they are hungry for more of them in the Catholic Church.

Almost three years ago, a sweet, courageous 15-year-old girl walked out of that place on Shaker Blvd in tears as we prayed on the sidewalk. "Will someone help me?" She had changed her mind and wanted to keep her baby.

Last night, we were blessed to sit with her beautiful now 2 1/2 year old child and watch this wonderful young woman graduate from high school.

Many individuals and groups have helped mom and child along the way. Too many to mention...but thank you!!! Please keep these two in your prayers and pray that all moms will choose life.

Who else loves the Lourde Shrine in Euclid? 100th Anniversary Mass Sunday!

"...The Jubilee officially kicks off Sunday, May 31, with a special 9:30 a.m. mass, celebrated by Bishop Edward Malesic, followed by a meet-and-greet reception at St. Ann Dining Hall. This event is open to the public, all are welcome..."

A place where the peace is palpable, find a haven of solace and faithful connection at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in Euclid, Ohio.

"You guys only care about women and babies before they are born." We heard that one again on Friday and then laughed about it all weekend as we drove around dropping off diapers, baby clothes and new fans to a few of the delightful new moms and babies we have met along the way. We were even blessed to share lunch Sunday with one of our friends we met on the sidewalk while praying - unfortunately her now 2 year old could not make our lunch at the last minute.

And this isn't a look at us post. There tens of thousands of folks scattered all over the country each doing 100x more than our humble efforts. Just in Cleveland, we have Womankind, Inc. , Birthright, Zellie's Home, and so many other great organizations. And don't forget groups like the Knights of Columbus and the St Vincent de Paul Society, and many others.

Fact: the Catholic Church is the world's largest charitable organization....and it's not even close. And if you are Catholic (or anyone of goodwill) and not doing much, get started, go love your neighbor.

We need your immediate prayers for two expectant moms and their babies. Yesterday was the Feast of St Rita (patroness of impossible causes) and St Rita did not disappoint! As we prayed on Shaker Blvd, we gave away over fifty snack bags and Miraculous Medals. We also were able to give away five of our stuffed back packs chock full of info, baby toys, and things for young moms.

One pleasant young mom pulling out immediately let us know with a big smile she was keeping her baby. She was thankful for the info on all the helpful resources available in Cleveland and promised to keep in touch.

And here's where things got interesting. Last week, Catherine had given us a few gift cards. Toward the end of the afternoon, a mom and daughter where pulling out of the lot. "How about a free gift card?" The pleasant daughter (who turned out to be the expecting one) was driving. "Sure." "And we also have this backpack full of helpful info and various things for a new mom."

It turned out, she was sort of undecided. But she and her mom in the passenger seat where very open to talking to us. We told them about some of the young moms we had helped in the past and even were able to show them a few baby pictures. "We had a baby shower for this one and an online shower for this one." "That's so sweet."

The young woman started to go through the back pack and pulled out the baby cap - "this is so cute!" We let her know a Padre Pio student had knitted it by hand for her.

We stressed how the community was ready to help her in anyway needed. "You know, a few weeks ago, a couple came by and dropped off brand new pack n plays (play pens) for us to give away to someone just in your situation, and we still have one left in a our...would you like it?" "Yes, please." On the spot, we were able to put the new portable pack n play into her back seat.

We talked to them for quite a longtime. In that moment, the kind young woman seemed fully committed to choosing life. She promised to text and was very interested in a possible baby shower. Please pray! Please pray hard for this one!

Two more prayer requests. Gary came by. His dad is a vet and battling cancer on this Memorial weekend. He took a few Miraculous Medals for family and friends. And a good friend from the apartment building next to where we pray suffered three minor strokes. She asked for our continued prayers.

St Rita, pray for us.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
St Philomena, pray for us.
Blessed Solanus Casey, pray for us.
