WHO WE ARE
Valley View Baptist Church is a cooperating Southern Baptist Church. We participate in the Bradley Baptist Association, the Tennessee Baptist Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention. We support the the work of those groups financially; we give directly to the BBA, and give through the Cooperative Program to the TBC and SBC. HISTORY OF VVBC
Valley View Baptist Church was initiall
y formed from members of what is now Cedar Springs Baptist Church in 1955. The original building was occupied at that time. The church added a pastorium in 1959 for the housing of the church's pastors. The current sanctuary (auditorium) was added in 1968. In 1985, the pastorium was enlarged, and a campaign began to raise money for building new educational space. Ground was broken for the education building in January of 1988, and the John R. Paysinger Building was dedicated in February of 1989. Another campaign was launched in 1992 with the intent of building a new sanctuary and educational building. The building of a larger facility was eventually determined to not be necessary at the time. Instead, renovations to the sanctuary and educational areas was completed in 1997, and renovation of the fellowship hall was complete in 2001. The parking area was also improved. In 2004, the church purchased a tract of land across McClure Road from the existing facility to provide for future needs and growth. In 2000, the church gained a vision for helping the needy in the community. A food ministry began that eventually became the Storehouse. The ministry began in the fellowship hall, but had grown so much that in 2006 the pastorium was converted for use as a distribution and ministry center. The Storehouse distributes groceries twice every month with the help of many committed volunteers and ministry partners Michigan Avenue Baptist Church, Union Missionary Baptist Church, and Red Hill United Methodist Church.
