When I came to St. John, our page had about 30 followers. Now there are more than 150.
That may seem like a small thing in the world of social media, but to us it is a great encouragement. It means that more of you are seeing our life together, praying with us from a distance, remembering this congregation, or perhaps quietly wondering whether there might be a place for you here.
If that is you, please know this: you are welcome at St. John.
You do not have to have everything figured out. You do not have to be a “church person” already. You do not have to arrive with your life neatly ordered. The Church is the place where Christ gathers sinners, forgives them, strengthens them, and gives them a family in His name.
St. John is for people who need a break from our fallen world, and a Hospital for the Soul where sinners are forgiven and strengthened.
St. John is a small congregation, and like many small churches, we are facing real challenges. We need more people—not only to help keep the doors open, but to share in the life of Christ here: hearing His Word, receiving His gifts, praying together, serving our neighbors, and passing the faith on to the next generation. We want to help build our community, but to do that effectively, we need you! If you are looking for a church home. If you are tired of the same old prosperity Gospel telling you why you don’t measure up. If you want to hear about Christ and Him crucified for you. Join us!
So here is the simple invitation: come and see.
Come worship with us. Come introduce yourself. Come sit with us for a Sunday. Come hear of Jesus Christ, crucified and risen for you. Come and rest from your labors, and hear God’s love for you.
If you have been following this page from a distance, we would love to meet you in person. The Divine Service is held at 12 Noon on Sundays at St. John Lutheran Church in South Euclid. The Lord’s Holy Supper is celebrated every Sunday.
Christ has prepared a place for you here.
Yours in Christ Jesus,
Pastor Berndt
