We had a lovely ashes service at noon today in Christ the King Chapel, with another one at 7:30 PM in the lobby of the Harks dorm.

Lent is a time of preparation for Easter that is practiced by many Christian denominations. Lent is a time of fasting, repentance, prayer, and giving to the poor. The purpose is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus and his love for us. It is a time to re-focus our lives and open our hearts to God's transforming Spirit.

Catholics abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays of Lent. Also, Catholics are asked to fast (only eating one full meal) on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
