As we look back on this month dedicated to Mary, we're reminded that true greatness is found in quiet faith and a simple yes. May our Blessed Mother's example of humility and trust continue to inspire us to live with love, grace, and openness to God’s will. 🌸💙

Gracious God, On this Memorial Day, we pray for those who courageously laid down their lives for the cause of freedom. May the example of their sacrifice inspire in us the selfless love of your son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Bless the families of our fallen soldiers, and fill their homes and their lives with your strength and peace. In union with people of goodwill of every nation, embolden us all to answer the call to work for peace and justice, seeking an end to violence and conflict wherever it may be. Amen (Unknown Author).

The Diocese of Cleveland - Catholic Schools gathered school leaders at the 1804 Manor House in Akron on May 1 to celebrate the service of retiring principals and to announce 2025-2026 diocesan Catholic school award winners. The celebration took place during the annual spring principals’ lunch.

Frank O’Linn, diocesan superintendent of schools, began the program by sharing highlights from the past year and hopes for the future. “A year of Hope: To the Heights” was the OCE theme for the year. It was rooted in the motto of St. Pier Giorgio Frassati, “Versa l’alto” or “To the Heights.” He was canonized in September 2025 in Rome.

Together, the retiring principals and OCE administrators have nearly 300 years of combined service to schools in Northeastern Ohio.

"Today we honor all mothers—our birth moms, adoptive moms, and spiritual mothers. We give thanks for the women who gave us life, nurtured us, and guided us along the way. Think of the countless hours they have prayed for us—and still do. Happy Mother’s Day! We are deeply grateful for your sacrifices and your love" (Bishop Ed Malesic).
