This week's topic of Pastor Patrick's Study Group is "History of Christianity: Understanding How We Got Here". Each session is a stand-alone, which means that even if you haven't attended any previous sessions, you are able to join us and without feeling 'lost'. The Study Group meets at 6pm on Wednesdays at St. Mark's. No reservation is needed, just come. Bring along a Bible if you have, paper and something to write with.

The mission of Rogers Behavioral message "We provide highly effective mental health and addiction treatment that helps people reach their full potential for health and well-being" mirrors part of our church mission "...to share the message of Christ's love with others". On Sunday Keegan Rhynas, Director of Operations of Rogers Behavioral Health for Sheboygan & Manitowoc Clinics will speak during St. James Mission Fest Worship Service at 10:00 (*note, joint service on Sunday, no service at St. Mark's). Come and learn more about their mission and stay for a delicious dine-in or take out ham dinner afterwards 😋

November is Homelessness Awareness Month. In observation of this, there are several events the last week of October in Sheboygan. All of these events will be high quality, engaging opportunities to connect with folks working in homelessness, individuals who have experienced homelessness, and learn ways to engage yourself. Learn more about the impact of services that our building makes space for, and how you can join in. Here is a rundown of what is happening. Please feel free to reach out to St Luke UMC Pastor Ruth Hallstead ([email protected]) if you have questions about any of the events.

• Oct 22: Beyond the Bridge: This film follows cities around the US making a huge difference in homelessness. Following the free screening is a panel discussion. At this screening we will launch the blueprint for functional zero homelessness in Sheboygan County, with the goal that homelessness is rare, infrequent, and non-recurring. You want to be at this event. Registration is free, see the qr code/link on the next page. We can help with registration if you have questions. Reserve your spot here: https://bit.ly/beyondthebridgesheboygan

Oct 24: Night Without Shelter: Beyond the Bridge focuses on the systems in our community, and how we can make them work better to help all of us thrive. Night Without Shelter takes a different approach, inviting us into the shoes of those experiencing homelessness. This year, the event will be inside except for about 30 min at the beginning. A highlight of this experience will be eating dinner with folks who have experienced homelessness and getting to hear their stories. After dinner
we’ll have a discussion together to reflect on what we’ve learned throughout the evening. You’ll have the opportunity to spend the night at the Warming Shelter after this, but this part is optional. Sign up here: https://forms.gle/JNadjrKT7byyTcFE9

Oct 25: Blessing of the Cots in worship. Join St Luke UMC during our 9AM worship service in person or on the livestream to pray over the warming center and surround staff and guests in prayer for the season • Oct 25: Warming Center Open House: Come get a tour of the setup, meet with staff and board members, and ask any questions you might have. This event is at the Warming Center, which is located on 623 Ontario Avenue, inside St Luke UMC.

• Nov 1: Warming Center Opens: Please be praying for the staff, volunteers, and each guest that we welcome in the door.
