Welcome to a spiritual adventure in being “community” and exploring faith in a virtual environment. The people you meet here locate themselves both within and outside the Christian faith tradition. Deep down, the people who come here for a moment or stay for a time are ordinary people. Many of us come seeking an encounter of a God of many names, and are hoping to find a way to be in the world that
is extravagant in prayer, study, generosity and service. We invite you into conversation that draws upon the guidelines we offer below. If your comments routinely disregard these tenets and blatantly use such language as to cause pain in others then we will ask you to prayerfully reflect on your contributions. If after a gentle reminder and request to alter your behavior you continue in such a capacity that is contrary to the ethos of this community we will ask you to excuse yourself from the conversation with Extravagance UCC. If you persist in behavior that falls outside those listed below we will delete all of your comments and ensure you have no further access to this space. Similarly, if you find us lacking in these capacities we hope you will, with tenderness, point out our transgressions so that we might live into the hope for healing that we so ardently carry.
1. All are welcome.
2. No Evangelism, please. We are here to explore ideas, thoughts, feelings about spirituality and religion; not to convert anyone.
3. Ask a question, rather than turning to judgment.
4. Share the air. Be mindful of how much space you are taking with your comments. Others want to comment, too.
5. Speak in "I" statements. Don't assume your experience is universal. Speak for yourself.
6. The moderator of this group reserves the right to delete rude, hateful, or inappropriate comments. Extravagance is served by three part-time staff. Rev. Dr. Jo Hudson, Rev. Nicole Havelka and Ms. Kimberly Knight.
