We have a family of 7 (Mom and six kids)here at Faith Baptist Community Church and Center that experienced a house fire last year. Many of you helped with their more immediate needs at the time for clothing. They stayed with a grandma for awhile, then two different shelters. They are now finally into more permanent housing. The place has five bedrooms, but generally very little living space. We are trying to help them with some furniture and housewares. We have been able to find quite a few things, but listed below are what they currently need. Some of them are still sleeping on air mattresses. If you have any of the following items that you are able to donate, please let us know. As we hear of needs being met, I will update the list. I will put a ✅ when the need has been met. Thank you in advance!
✅ 1 twin bed (Update: 2 of 3 donated) have all mattresses
✅ 1 twin mattress (she has the bed frame for this one)
✅ 1 full size bed and mattress (for Mom)
✅ 4 sets of twin sheets (Update: have 1 of 5)
✅ 1 set of full-sized sheets
✅ 2 twin comforters or bedspreads (1 teen boy, 1 teen girl, 3 boys grades 1,2,4 approx.)) (Update: we have 3 of 5–we now have for 1st and 2nd grade boys and teen girl)
✅ 1 full-sized comforter or bedspread (Mom)
✅ Bath towels
✅ Washcloths
✅ Small sofa (the living space is SMALL!)
✅ 2 comfy chairs or recliners
✅ 2 dressers (Update: 4 of 4 donated)
✅ Toilet brush (new)
2 dirty clothes baskets or hampers (Update: have 3 of 5)
Plastic hangers
✅ Curtains and tension rods (shorter curtains) (4 of 5 tension rods donated)
One long tension rod
1 Small bedside table (Update: 5 of 6 donated)
✅ Lamps for bedrooms (5 of 5 found)
1 kitchen rug
✅ 1 living room rug
✅ 4 smaller rugs for bedrooms (have 1 of 5)
Please note that for most of these items (other than a toilet brush!), used items in good condition are just fine. We also were given a toddler bed for the youngest child, so that need has been met. Most items for the kitchen have already been met.
Please message me and Mike (or Jackie or John and Laura) if you can help with anything to get this family get settled. Thankfully their new place is back close to us, so the kids and usually mom are coming faithfully to church and kid’s club and youth group. The teen girl and the 4th grade boy have been saved since coming here, and we are seeing growth! We are so thankful to have the opportunity to minister to them in this time of need. If you have any specific questions, don’t hesitate to ask. We can also take cash and as staff, we can go ahead and do the shopping either new or at local second hand stores and deliver it to the family. Thank you!!
