What happened to the Black Church?

It’s been a minute since I’ve done a series, but I’m back, and this time we’re going somewhere that might make some folks uncomfortable.

I’m not interested in simply defending the institution. I want us to honestly examine where we’ve been, where we are, and where God may be calling us next.

The Black Church has faced hard questions before.

It’s time to face them again.

THE DAILY STRETCH

A grateful heart sees blessings that a complaining heart overlooks.
Perspective changes everything.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Scripture says, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Gratitude does not mean everything is good.
It means you can still recognize the good that is present.

Sometimes the blessing did not disappear.
Our attention simply shifted to what was wrong.

Stretch Today: Count your blessings.

The goal isn’t making ourselves famous.

The goal is making Christ known.
Live in a way that points people to Him.
Less of me.
More of Jesus.

Comparison will make you overlook what God is doing in your own life.

Your journey does not have to look like someone else’s to be meaningful.

Trust your path. Honor your progress. Remember that God created you with purpose. 🙏🏾

Kindness costs very little but changes so much.

Treat people with the same grace you hope to receive.

Love is always the better choice.
Lead with kindness. 🤍

You don’t have to carry anger everywhere you go.

Some things deserve to be addressed, but they do not deserve permanent space in your heart.

Ask God for the wisdom to release what is hurting you without becoming what hurt you. 🙏🏾

THE DAILY STRETCH

You don’t always need more answers.
Sometimes you need more patience.
Time reveals what hurry cannot.

In Psalm 27:14, Scripture says, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Hurry can make you force conclusions before the story is finished.
Some things become clearer when you give them room to unfold.

Patience is not doing nothing.
Sometimes it is wisdom refusing to move too soon.

Stretch Today: Slow down.

The world offers temporary satisfaction.

God offers lasting fulfillment.
Stay close to Him. ❤️
