What a powerful Mother’s Day at New Morning Star!

Lady LaToya preached from Exodus 2:1-3 with the message, “This Won’t Survive in Your Hands.” Just like Jochebed had to trust God enough to release Moses into His care, we were challenged to stop holding onto things God is calling us to surrender.

If you missed yesterday, you truly missed a move of God… but there’s still room for you here. Come worship with us. Come grow with us. Come experience God with us.

In this powerful Mother’s Day message from Exodus 2:1–3, Lady Latota honors God, parents, husbands, and mothers while teaching a life-changing lesson through the story of Jochebed, the mother of Moses. The sermon reminds us that life often places us in situations we cannot control, and while mothers are strong nurturers and protectors, there are some things only God can sustain.

Using Jochebed’s decision to place baby Moses in the Nile River, Lady Latota explains that holding on too tightly to people, pain, seasons, or control can ultimately destroy the very things we love. Through faith, Jochebed released Moses into God’s hands, trusting that God could protect what she could not.

The sermon centers around three major truths:

What you refuse to release, you may end up destroying.
Some things live only after you release them.
God will use what was meant to destroy you.

This message encourages believers to surrender their children, families, relationships, fears, and futures to God, trusting that what cannot survive in our hands will always survive in His.

This Sunday was an uncommon and extra-ordinary service!

God didn’t wait until after the sermon!
His invitation called us to flood the altar during opening praise and worship! Some stood, others kneeled but everyone cried out to God for repentance, revival, and restoration!

Pastor Chris continued our current sermon series, "I’m Better Than This," with the sermon “Moments in the Mirror” - James 1:21-25. He challenged us with a powerful truth: A mirror only benefits us if we are willing to make the necessary adjustments based on what we see.

What do you do when the Word of God shows you who you really are? A mirror always tells the truth. It’s time to stop ignoring the reflection and start making the corrections that lead to a blessed life.

When we align our lives with what we see in the "Perfect Law of Liberty," we aren't just hearers we become doers who are blessed in everything we do!

Moments in the Mirror: I’m Better Than This
We all look in the mirror to check our reflection, but what happens when the Word of God is the mirror?

This week, Pastor Chris continues our series, "I’m Better Than This," diving into James 1:21-25. He challenges us with a powerful truth: A mirror only benefits us if we are willing to make the necessary adjustments based on what we see.

We often show up "dressed up and head up," but underneath the titles and the prestige, many of us are carrying hidden wounds. In his powerful message, "The Process of Healing," Pastor Chris dives into the life of Naaman a great warrior who was a hero on the outside but a l***r on the inside.

True healing doesn't always happen on our terms. It requires us to drop our pride and trust God’s instructions, even when they don’t meet our approval. Are you ready to stop looking good and start being good?

We sincerely thank Delta Health Alliance for partnering with us to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our youth.

Underneath the titles and the prestige, many of us are carrying hidden wounds. Pastor Chris preached a vital message titled, “The Healing Process.” Healing doesn't always happen on our terms. It requires us to drop our pride and trust God’s instructions. Here are a few gems we received:

1. Don’t miss your miracle because of who the messenger is.
2. Believe that God can and will do it for you.
3. Staying with the familiar will make you miss your future.
4. The method that God uses don’t have to meet your approval.
5. Some of us don’t have an issue with sin, we have an issue with submission.
6. Pride will cancel the process of healing.

When we trust God through every step of the healing of process, transformation is inevitable.
