Well, we only have one more no shortcuts in our series. However, today, we find ourselves on another Holy Ghost detour. 😊

Disciples of Jesus,
This morning in prayer, I felt the Holy Spirit nudge my spirit with these words: Do not concern yourself with trying to pray a long prayer this morning. Give me that ONE word that's pressing on your heart this morning. The more I began to say my ONE-word prayer, the more He added to the ONE word.

Stop thinking that the more wordy your prayers, the more powerful they must be, the more impressed heaven must be, or the more God hears you. In Matthew 6, Jesus' teaching on prayer includes against praying in your secret closet with many words. Interesting, because one would think that using the same or many words would be acceptable in private. But Jesus, in verse 8, gives us a glimpse of why long and wordy prayers are sometimes unnecessary.

My lighthearted 😊 spin on this is that He is saying the Father is not deaf, hard of understanding, or lacking knowledge of the real concerns. You know how irritating it is when people repeatedly say the same thing until they begin to sound like a broken record. You want to say, please stop. I heard you, and I got it!

You may say Matthew 7:7 says to keep asking, seeking, and knocking. Asking, Seeking, and Knocking is a process of developing intense desire and endurance. Jesus is saying, I am encouraging you never to stop coming to Me!

Don't be like a fisherman in prayer; cast your rod and reel it back in. In 1 Peter 5:7, He says, Cast your cares on Him. Then leave them with Him!

Disciples of Jesus, Romans 8:26 says, The Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf with sighs and groanings too deep for words. Holy Spirit can take ONE word from your heart when poured out in sincere prayer or when facing a Real-Time urgency and turn it into a dissertation without you even knowing it! He pleads our complete case! Hallelujah!

As we approach the year's close and prepare for a new year, I want to invite and encourage you to focus on praying ONE word from your heart in 2024. Get a journal, title it my ONE-word Prayer journal, and then create a ONE-word prayer list. Here are a few sample words:
Jesus
Mercy
Help
Forgive
Guide
Clarify
Heal

Let God Change Your Life for the Better, Romans 8:28
Great Day, Kingdom Influencers!

As Christians, we know that we are called to turn our lives over to God…but the actual turning over of our lives is often easier said than done, especially when God guides us in a direction that makes us uncomfortable.

You may have experienced this when you thought your career was going in a certain direction, only to find yourself moving into an entirely different field.
Or perhaps a relationship you thought would last forever only survived for a season.

When change moves us outside of our comfort zone, we often dig in our heels and think, “Oh, no…this can’t be the way. I think I know better.”

Today's scripture may offer some comfort when you feel uncomfortable with impending change.
A Scripture to Stand On

Today's scripture comes from the New Living Translation of Romans 8:28:
"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."
There is so much packed into this one verse!
First, we see that "everything" works together for good. This means that no matter what is happening in your life—even if it seems bad—God can use it for good.

Second, this good is specifically Extended to "those who love God and are called according to His purpose." So not only does this promise apply to believers, but it also extends to those whom God has specifically called—which includes you!
Lastly, this promise is "for them." This isn't just a general statement about how things work in the world; it's a personal word from God to you about how he works everything out in YOUR life.

When you're feeling anxious about change, remember that you can trust God to work everything out for your good—because he has promised to do just that!

What Now?

Now that you've been equipped with today's scripture, what will YOU do with it? Here are some suggestions:
- Read it again and internalize it so that you can stand on it when changes come your way.
- Share it with a friend or family member who might be struggling with change.
- Pray and ask God to help you trust him when changes come your way.

Whatever you do today, remember that you serve a good God who promises to work everything out for your good—so trust him!

My friends, God is at work in all things happening in your life…the big and the small. The uncomfortable and the unimaginable. God can use both the good and the bad that comes from living in a broken, sinful world, for God’s good works.

I pray you will go through your today with a renewed sense of security knowing that, in the midst of change, God is there working diligently for your good. What a wonderful blessing!

Turn From Stagnation and Embrace Joy! Philippians 4:12-13
Great Day, Kingdom Influencers!

Oh, how we love the mountaintop experiences that come when our faith is fiery, and God feels close enough to touch. But it’s harder to keep the flames of our faith stoked when we are caught up in the daily drudgery of everyday life. Work stress and family responsibilities sometimes wear us down, moving our focus away from Jesus and causing stagnation in our relationship with Christ. And, when disaster strikes or a tragedy occurs it is easy to feel stuck—in sorrow, in rage, in resentment—and unable to move closer to our Savior.

But there is good news! We don’t have to stay stuck. We can choose joy.

In Philippians 4:12-13, Paul writes, “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (NIV)
Paul had every reason to be bitter. He was discriminated against because he was a Jew. He was imprisoned for his faith. He waspoor. He was often hungry. But instead of wallowing in self-pity or getting angry at God, Paul chose joy—because he knew that joy was not dependent on his circumstances but on his relationship with Jesus Christ.

You see, when we focus on Jesus and not our circumstances, we can have joy no matter what is going on around us. That doesn’t mean that we won’t feel sorrow or anger when bad things happen—we are human after all. But it does mean that we don’t have to Let our emotions control us. Instead, we can let Christ’s love fill us up so that we can overflow with hope, even in the midst of difficulties.
So today, if you find yourself feeling stuck—stagnant in your faith or bogged down by the cares of this world—take a moment to remember that you don’t have to stay there. You can turn from stagnation and embrace joy! Just ask God to help you take your focus off your circumstances and fix your eyes on Jesus Christ. When you do, you will find that the joy you need is already within reach.

Has Your Christian Life Become Stagnant? 2nd Peter 1:3-11
Great Day, Kingdom Influencers!

Have you ever experienced a feeling of stagnancy while on your Christian walk? Unfortunately, it happens to the best of us—that feeling that forward motion has stopped and a sort of apathy takes hold. While the word may seem benign, make no mistake—allowing your spiritual life to become stagnant is dangerous.

But what causes stagnancy in Christians? It certainly has nothing to do with God. No, the cause is often our own laziness. We don’t want to be inconvenienced and we lull ourselves into a false sense of security by saying the current state of our faith is good enough.

We all know that a plant needs water to grow—just as we need God’s Word to grow spiritually. When we allow our relationship with Christ to become stagnant, we’re not doing ourselves any favors. In fact, we’re opening ourselves up to all sorts of problems. So how do we avoid letting our faith become stagnant?

Peter provides some useful insights in his second epistle, specifically in chapter 1 verses 3 through 11.

Here are three things we can do to make sure our faith stays fresh:
1) Make every effort to add to your faith. This means taking an active role in growing your relationship with Christ. It’s not enough to just go to church on Sundays—we need to be intentional about seeking out Bible studies, prayer groups, or other opportunities to learn more about our faith and how we can apply it to our everyday lives.

2) Be diligent in developing godly character traits. In other words, strive to become more like Christ in everything you do. This means being patient, kind, self-controlled, etc. Essentially, it comes down to treating others the way we want to be treated and living our lives in a way that glorifies God.

3) Be diligent in using your gifts for service. We are all gifted in different ways and it’s important that we use those gifts for the betterment of God’s kingdom. Whether it’s teaching Sunday school, helping out with the youth group, or volunteering at a local soup kitchen, there are countless ways we can serve others and share the gospel message.

And finally, don’t forget the importance of Christian fellowship! Spending time with other believers is crucial for maintaining a healthy spiritual life. When we come together to worship, learn, and serve, we not only build each other up but we also inspire each other to stay the course.

Stagnancy in our relationship with Christ can be dangerous—but it doesn’t have to be permanent! By making time for God a priority and being intentional about our spiritual growth, we can prevent stagnation and keep our faith fresh and alive.
Don't let your relationship with Christ become stagnant! Make time for God a priority and be intentional about your spiritual growth to prevent stagnation.

Friends, I pray you will avoid stagnancy by remembering this truth—our goal as Christians is to become more like Christ, and it is a process that we will work towards for our entire lives. Do not let the world tell you that where you are is “good enough”. God has so much more in store for you! Don’t be stagnant…move ever closer to Christ!

God Wants to Change You for the Better! 2 Corinthians 5:17
Great Day, Kingdom Influencers!

How does the idea of change make you feel? Whether it stirs within you the excitement of anticipation or drums up a little anxiety, the answer is the same. It is absolutely impossible to have a real relationship with God and NOT be changed. It simply cannot happen, and today’s scripture tells us as much:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” So let’s take a closer look at what it means to be changed by God.

2 Corinthian 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” This verse is often used in tandem with 2 Corinthians 5:21 which tells us that “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” Both of these verses speak to the idea of being changed by God. But what does that actually mean? And how does it happen?

First, Being changed by God doesn’t mean that we become perfect people. It doesn’t mean that our rough edges are sanded down, and we become compliant little robots who never make mistakes. Rather, it means that our hearts are transformed. We begin to see things from God’s perspective and our desires start to line up with His. We start to care about what He cares about and want to please Him more than anyone else.

Second, When we talk about being changed, it’s important to be clear, this kind of change isn’t referring to your career or your hairstyle or whether you prefer Boxers or Briefs (though God may have something to say about that last one). The change we’re talking about is inward change. It’s a change of heart. It’s a change of mind. It’s a change of will. In other words, it’s a spiritual transformation that leads to a fundamental change in who you are as a person.

It also doesn’t happen overnight. Like any relationship, our relationship with God takes time to grow and develop. And as it does, we start to see changes in our lives. These changes may be big or small, but they will all point to a heart being transformed by God's love.

So if you are anxious about the change God is bringing into your life, take heart! He is good and He is faithful. He will never leave you or forsake you. And even though change can be challenging, it is always worth it when it leads us closer into a relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Friends, I pray you will trust that the changes God wants to make in you are for the better, and I pray you will embrace these changes…lean into them…and allow God to begin the greatest work of your life—making you ever more like Jesus.

Change Before You Become a Lukewarm Christian, Revelation 3:14-22
Great Day, Kingdom Influencers!

As Christians, it is so important that we stay close to the Lord.

Unfortunately, it is all too easy to become complacent in our faith and gradually drift away from God. This is what the bible refers to as being "lukewarm." In Revelation 3:14-22, we are warned against becoming lukewarm Christians. "So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth," (v. 16). Being lukewarm is not just unappealing to God, it is intolerable. So how do we know if we're in danger of becoming lukewarm? Here are three signs to watch out for.

1) You're Getting Comfortable with Complacency
One of the first signs that you might be slipping into lukewarm waters is when you start to get comfortable with complacency. It's easy to get complacent in our walk with Christ when things are going well. We can begin to take God for granted and forget all that He has done for us. But complacency is dangerous because it can lead us down a path of spiritual apathy. When we stop being Vigilant in our faith, we become more susceptible to temptation and sin.

2) You Think You Know What's Best
Another sign that you might be becoming a lukewarm Christian is if you find yourself thinking that you know what's best for your life rather than deferring to God's will. As Christians, we are called to submit our lives to God (Proverbs 3:5-6). This means trusting Him even when things are tough and we can't see His plan. When we try to take matters into our own hands, we are only setting ourselves up for disappointment.

3) Your Enthusiasm for Christ Is Fading
Do you remember how excited you were when you first became a Christian? Everything was new and thrilling! But over time, it's easy for that excitement and enthusiasm to fade. If your love for Christ has grown cold and you no longer find joy in serving Him, this is a major warning sign that you might be drifting away from Him.

If any of these signs sound familiar, don't despair! The Lord is always ready and willing to forgive us when we come back to Him (Isaiah 55:7). confess your sins and ask God to help you overcome them. He will give you the strength you need to fight against complacency and apathy (Philippians 4:13). Take some time today to pray and ask God to renew your passion for Him!Much Love to all!
