FPC youth recently returned from their Appalachian Immersion program in Middlesboro, Kentucky! Here are some highlights captured by rising sophomore (and amazing photographer) Nathan Chilcote.

During this one-week experience, youth learned that Appalachia is a complex, beautiful region shaped by both deep challenges and deep resilience. They explored how histories of extraction and injustice continue to affect communities, while also encountering strong culture, faith, creativity, and pride of place. Most importantly, they learned that meaningful service begins with listening, relationship, and recognizing the dignity and holiness already present in people and places.

As you can tell, they also had a blast growing in their relationships with one another, hiking, eating good food, and making memories.

Thank you so much to First Baptist Church of Middlesboro, KY for hosting us and making the experience so meaningful!

🎉 Cheering on Pastor Ryan, Mae, and Silas as they read their line of the Declaration of Independence on Public Square in Downtown Cleveland last night! The reading was a reminder for us all to uphold the foundational tenants of this document while continuing to lift the stories of the native people, black Americans, immigrant communities, and the marginalized people who continue to be the backbone of this American experiment. 🇺🇸 Onwards and Upwards!

The Baltimore Children’s Choir (BCC) is a nonprofit arts organization founded in 2000 that provides high-quality choral music education to children throughout the greater Baltimore area. Each year, BCC performs approximately twenty concerts regionally and tours in the summer. Recent tours include New York, Niagara Falls, Boston, and San Diego. In 2026, BCC performed at the American Choral Directors’
Children’s Choir Retreat and at the Maryland Music Educators’ Conference in Baltimore. BCC’s in-school music programs serve approximately 1,400 students weekly in public and private schools across the Baltimore metro region.

...mmm, smell that? That's our Youth Pancake Brunch Fundraiser on Sunday, June 14th happening right after worship 🍳

High school students participating in the Summer 2026 Appalachian Immersion trip will host a brunch fundraiser in Andersen Hall after worship this Sunday, June 14th! Proceeds will help provide scholarships for youth and cover costs for adult volunteer chaperones. This Christ-centered immersion experience will invite our youth to serve, learn, worship, and build relationships in rural Kentucky—an often misunderstood region—while growing in humility, compassion, and a deeper understanding of what it means to love our neighbors well. Come eat pancakes and show your support!

Over the weekend, Fairmount participated in the Cleveland Pride Parade, representing our values and standing in solidarity with our neighbors. While sifting through the truly massive amount of pictures taken, we realized that we couldn't sum up our experience through a single lone post--so we'll be turning this into a 3-part series, highlighting our members, our friends, and our experience.
