Housing is the foundation, and our work does not stop at a front door. Through Housing First, families with children receive six to twelve months of rent- and utilities-free housing, along with financial literacy, budgeting classes, credit repair, mental health counseling, after-school enrichment, and job readiness support.

We make sure 100% of adult participants receive financial literacy training within their first 60 days, and we work toward 75% of parents securing full-time employment within 60 days and an 80% permanent housing transition rate. This is how we support families beyond shelter, with the tools for lasting stability.

Behind every step from crisis to stable housing, there is a case manager walking alongside each family. In our Housing First program, we pair every family with dedicated support and a personalized plan for permanent housing, financial literacy, budgeting, credit repair, economic meal planning, and mental health counseling.

That support is built for real outcomes: 24 hours of financial literacy training, full-time employment within 60 days, and self-sufficiency within 8 months. Today, 73% of families in our program maintain stability for at least one year after transitioning out of housing.

Our Care Coach Mobile Unit brings housing assistance, hot meals, fresh fruit, and health screenings directly to families with children who are experiencing homelessness or at risk in underserved communities. By meeting immediate needs and connecting families to longer-term housing support, we help create a path toward stability.

Today, we are celebrating a housing milestone: 191 families have been housed through our Housing First Program. What began with one family has grown to 191 families housed. Over the past decade, 498 people housed, including 349 children, across Lake County.

Alongside stable, no-cost housing, we provide financial literacy training, mental health counseling, and career development to help families move toward lasting stability.

We were grateful to be part of the R.I.S.E. in Recovery Lake County event at The Salvation Army and hosted by Zero Hour Life Center.

This half-day of empowerment brought a room full of resources together in housing, mental health, recovery services, homeless outreach, and more. From keynote speaker Susan Hall and powerful testimonies from FFR community partners like Candaece Chatman to food trucks, a dunk tank, activities for all ages, and practical takeaways, there was something for everyone.

At Find, Feed & Restore, we believe lasting restoration takes more than meeting an immediate need. It means connecting individuals and families with the support, resources, and safe housing they need to move forward. We were especially grateful for the opportunity to share about Miriam’s Hope, our new long-term transitional housing program for domestic violence survivors and their children.
