September 5, 2026 Update

We are praising the Lord for another week of radiation treatments down! 🥳

So far....
✅️10 of 33 radiation treatments completed.
✅️1 of 3 chemotherapy rounds completed.

Geoff had a much better week this week. The nausea from the chemo has finally eased up, and he had a little more energy during the day. He probably overdid it though because he has not been feeling great today and has just been resting to allow his body time to recover. We are thankful for one more week before the next chemo round on 9/14.

Prayer Requests:
🔸️His mouth and neck are starting to feel the effects of the radiation. Please pray the inflammation and discomfort will be minimal, and he will be able to continue to eat and drink.
🔸️Pray for God's protection of his hearing. He has been having some minor ringing and fullness in his ears.
🔸️Please pray for another week of feeling good before the next chemotherapy round.
🔸️He will be having bloodwork this week. Please pray that everything is within range.
🔸️We see the same people in the radiotherapy office 5 days a week. Please pray for more opportunities to share Christ's love with them all.

🗓Week 3 starts on Monday which includes 5 more days of radiation therapy. He has bloodwork in the morning on 9/9 and meets with his oncologist in the afternoon.

📷Below is a picture of Geoff on the radiation table with his radiation mask (you all know he likes his pictures). The precision of this technology is amazing. He is strapped down and scanned each time to make sure he is in the exact position. Then, he spends a total of 3 minutes each day actually receiving the radiation.

August 29, 2026 Update

Geoff finished his first week of radiation yesterday! 🥳 Yes, we will celebrate each week because each week of treatment completed is an answer to prayer and a reason to praise our Heavenly Father.

✅️1 of 3 Chemotherapy Rounds Completed
✅️5 of 33 Radiation Treatments Finished

It was a harder week than we expected, but not too bad. The nausea hit him pretty hard and the fatigue hits him just a few hours after each radiation treatment. Headaches have been off and on as well, but he has always struggled with migraines.

Since Geoff is overall healthy besides the cancer, his oncologist is giving him a higher dose of chemo that he only gets 3 times instead of having to get chemo once a week for 7 weeks. So, the side effects have been a little more intense than usual. We are praising God that with the nausea medicine he is still able to eat! As the radiation oncologist told me this week, his goal is for Geoff to finish treatment without a feeding tube. I said, "that is my goal, too!!"

🗓Weekends are for his body to rest. Monday he starts another 5 days of radiation treatments. His next chemotherapy round is scheduled for 9/14.

Specific Prayer Requests:
🔸️He has some ringing in his ears today. Please pray for God's protection of his hearing.
🔸️Please pray for adequate rest this weekend.

On a different note:

🔔We are also celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary today. I can't say I ever saw cancer as part of our story, especially this early in our lives, but here we are.
I have seen alot on social media lately (I think my newsfeed is funneling all things cancer and chronic illness related to me) of women who have abandoned/divorced their husbands when diagnoses came and times became hard. They did it for their "mental health and well-being" and people online applauded them for "doing what they needed to do for themselves."
When I said "I Do" 22 years ago inside the base chapel of Fort Rucker, Alabama, I meant it. I do in good times. I do in hard times. I. Do. All. The. Time.

So today, we are celebrating our love story. I thank God for my husband...in sickness and in health. 🩷

Tomorrow begins the fight. 💪 The fight to rid Geoff's body of this cancer. 33 days of radiation therapy with 3 rounds of chemotherapy interspersed.

His first round of chemotherapy is tomorrow at 9:30am followed by his first radiation treatment at 2:30pm. Please be in prayer for him throughout the day tomorrow.

Tuesday through Friday, he will continue to have radiation treatments each day at 2:30pm.

🙏Things to pray for over the next 7 weeks:
1. Minimal to no side effects of the chemotherapy.

2. Hearing loss is a potential long-term side effect of the chemotherapy. Please pray for God's protection of his hearing.

3. Minimal to no short term side effects of the radiation therapy. Please pray for his appetite to remain, his ability to eat without pain (no mouth sores!), and minimal weight loss.

4. Protection from long-term complications of the radiation therapy.

5. The complete eradication of the cancer in his body.

Please also pray that our insurance company will accept our appeal and reverse their denial for these treatments.

We know God is with us every step of the way. We are thankful for His provision thus far. We are trusting Him for Geoff's healing and protection, and we are resting in His promises.

Thank you for your prayers! Chemotherapy port is placed and ready for him to begin treatment.

We are home and he is doing great, just a little sore. We will receive the treatment schedule tomorrow, but as far as we know he will begin on Monday.

Please continue to pray for the insurance issue to be resolved.

Please keep Geoff in your prayers tomorrow as he goes in to have his chemotherapy port placed. Surgery is scheduled for 1100.

Also, we are having an issue with our international insurance not wanting to cover the cancer treatments. Please pray with us that the issue will be resolved and the denials will be overturned quickly.

Thank you to everyone for your prayers, words of encouragement and support! We are truly grateful for each one of you.

The last two days have been filled with lots of doctors appointments and tests. We met first with the Head and Neck Oncologist on Thursday. He confirmed that the PET scan showed the cancer has spread to a few of Geoff's lymph nodes, which the doctor confirmed is very common for his type of cancer (Tonsil Cancer). The PET scan did not find cancer cells anywhere else in his body. Praise the Lord! We are also praising God that when the doctor palpated Geoff's lymph nodes he could not feel them, which the doctor stated is very good because it means the cancer in the lymph nodes is in the very early stages. We have since also met with the Radiation Oncologist and the Head and Neck Surgeon.

The three doctors will be meeting together on Wednesday to discuss Geoff's case and to determine the final course of treatment. At this point, the plan is 33 days of radiation therapy with 3 days of chemotherapy interspersed. Their goal is to start treatment August 17. His treatment is designated as curative and not palliative. Praise the Lord the prognosis is good! God has led us to amazing doctors at a fantastic clinic. Please pray for the doctors wisdom as they finalize his treatment plan.

In the meantime, Geoff has many appointments to keep us busy. He had bloodwork and a hearing test on Friday. Monday he goes for his radiation mask fitting and a CT scan. Wednesday he has an Echocardiogram, EKG, and a nasal endoscopy. All of these are to establish baselines and to make sure he is healthy enough to withstand the treatment. Please pray all of these tests and procedures go well.

If all goes according to plan, we will be in Santiago until mid-October. We move into our apartment for the next 9 weeks on Monday night. We are praising God for his provision in securing a safe place for us to stay that is within public transportation distance of the clinic since we do not have a vehicle here.

Please continue to pray for Geoff and our family over the next couple of months. Please pray that there will be minimal short term side effects and no long term complications from the treatment. Please pray with us that our family will be a living testimony to those around us and that God will be glorified through it all. Please pray with us for many opportunities to share the gospel and to minister to those around us, especially those who are going through this cancer journey as well. God has us in Santiago for a reason, and our hearts desire is to continue to be faithful in all circumstances.

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

We arrived in Santiago on Monday night. Our first order of business was getting the kids McDonalds since they haven't had it in over a year. They were quite excited to see those golden arches.

We are settled in to our Airbnb, and Geoff goes for his first appointment in the morning. His PET scan is at 0840. It is a 2-3 hour process that begins with a glucose check, then the injection of the radiotracer and then after an hour, the scan itself.

Please pray with us not just that the cancer hasn't spread to the lymph nodes or beyond, but that no cancer will be found at all. God is "able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think" (Ephesians 3:20), and so we are not limiting Him and are praying big.

He meets with the oncologist on Thursday afternoon, so we will update after his appointment. Thank you for praying for our family.

This is Miguel and his mom. We first met Miguel back in February when we were checking out a new store where he was working as a security guard. We talked with him, gave him a tract, and invited him to church. In April, we ran into him again, invited him to visit us at church, and Geoff exchanged phone numbers with him.

After a couple months of texting back and forth, Miguel invited us over to his house this past Tuesday night. While eating the most delicious empanadas made by Miguel's sweet mom, Geoff spent several hours sharing the gospel with them and answering all of Miguel's questions. He learned from the Scriptures that you can be 100% sure you will go to heaven when you die. Miguel exclaimed, "This is so simple to understand!"

We are rejoicing that on Tuesday night before we left Miguel accepted Jesus as his personal Savior and is now 100% sure that he will go to heaven when he dies.

Please continue to pray for his mom, for her salvation, and for Miguel as he grows in his faith.

Yesterday, Noah and I had the privilege to attend the Chilean Flag Oath Ceremony here in Punta Arenas in honor of Día de la Bandera (Flag Day). This day commemorates the heroic sacrifice of the 77 soldiers who gave their lives during the Battle of La Concepción in 1882 during the War of the Pacific. Many Chileans view their stand much like Americans think of the Alamo, a story of extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and devotion to one's country.

It was especially meaningful for Noah and I to witness the Chilean Army’s Flag Oath ceremony, where, in memory of the lost Soldiers of the Battle of La Concepción, Chilean Soldiers recite a special oath to the Chilean flag. Part of the oath is, “I swear by God and by this flag, to serve my country faithfully, whether at sea, on land, or in any place, even to give my life if necessary!"

We also had the chance to hand out some tracts!
