Can you spot the penguin? We see Peale's dolphins in front of our church/home almost every day, especially at low tide. A few days ago, they were really playing and jumping out of the water. I went outside to get a closer video. When I watched the video, I discovered that I had recorded something extremely rare. A Magellanic penguin must have been spooked by the boat and was swimming right to me. You can see the penguin "porpoising" as it was fleeing the boat. They only swim like that when running for a predator, so it is a rare thing to see.

Summer is officially over in far south Patagonia, and we had a very sunny first day of fall. Now tonight, it is 37 degrees with a real feel of 26 degrees. Praise the Lord that we finally had our heater fixed yesterday! And here is a fun fact, the end of “season” isn’t based on the weather, the date, or even when the kids here go back to school (3 weeks ago). No, they are counting down the end of the season by the remaining cruise ships scheduled to stop here. We officially have 7 cruise ships left until the end of the summer tourist season.

Noah and I had the honor and privilege to attend the Chilean Army promotion ceremony of Kevin today. Kevin was the first regular attender of our new church plant here in Punta Arenas. Kevin even surprised me by asking me to pin on his new rank. It was a wonderful moment and one I know we will treasure for a long time!
