Let's join Pope Francis in saying goodbye to Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI who was laid to rest this morning in the Vatican. Pope Emeritus Benedict was a brilliant theologian and blessed the Church immensely throughout his many years as a priest (Do you have a Catechism at home? You can thank him for that.) He faithfully led the Church as Pope from 2005-2013. Now, he joins Jesus- whom he had always loved- in His heavenly kingdom.

"Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen."

FALL RETREAT!!! Our Fall Retreat theme this year is "Where does your treasure lie?" based off of Matthew 6:21. It will be November 4-6 at the Clemson Outdoor Lab. We'll have registration forms at this week's Encounter. See you Sunday!

What are you doing for Lent?

During Lent, we aren't called to just "give something up". We are called to put into practice something which helps us grow deeper in prayer and closer to Our Lord as we join Him on his 40 day journey through the desert. Lent is a beautiful season of hope wherein we grow in freedom and prepare to celebrate the absolute greatest celebration of freedom at Easter!
