This we gather to hear the story and ponder the meaning of four beloved hymns, The Old Rugged Cross, Beautifu Savior, It Is Well with My Soul and Amazing Grace. We will sing each hymn and reflect on the its meaning in our lives as an extended improvisation is offered as prayer. Join us as we pray, sing, and reflect through the gift of music.

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

The Largo Police Department has recently learned about a scam going around with individuals posing as high schoolers trying to raise money for their sports team. They may approach you in a busy shopping plaza with a convincing story, asking you to purchase candy for their fundraiser then ask you to scan a QR code or use an app to donate.

While many legitimate youth organizations fundraise in our community, scammers know that people are happy to support local students and they’re taking advantage of that kindness.

Before you donate:
➡ Look for coaches or parents
➡ Be cautious about scanning QR codes from people you do not know
➡ NEVER hand over your phone to a stranger and have them complete the donation for you
➡ If something feels off or if you’re pressured to donate, politely decline and walk away
➡ If you'd like to support local student athletes, donate directly through your local schools or recognized organizations.

If you see any suspicious fundraising activity, please call our non-emergency line at 727-587-6730 and report it. Your call could help prevent someone else from becoming a victim.

The story of a beloved hymn….

By the mid-1970s, Fr. Michael Joncas was a 24-year-old from Minneapolis who had temporarily left the path to priesthood, uncertain about his vocation, immersed in church music, liturgy and the turbulence of America after Vietnam.

Five decades later, the hymn he wrote during a moment of private grief, "On Eagle's Wings," has become one of the most recognizable religious songs in the English-speaking world, crossing denominational boundaries and accompanying funerals, memorial services and moments of national mourning, from parish churches to presidential speeches.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the hymn's creation, a song born quietly in 1975 and first sung publicly at a funeral in Omaha, Nebraska, in April 1976. https://bit.ly/49MrC5C
