After a good 5-6 year run, the DeRP is retiring as a ministry of Heritage United Methodist Church. Thanks to everybody who gave us a listen and / or played along with our various hijinx!

It's been a fun window into the church that many people have peeked through, and many liked what they saw. I'm grateful to the host crew for being one of my favorite parts of my ministry career, though I think I retire in about 15 years, so I can't guarantee there won't be other things that try and compete. 😁 --MH

I encourage everyone, everywhere to watch the sermon from Bishop Latrelle Miller Easterling of the Baltimore / Washington D.C. / Delaware Peninsula Annual Conference. It's not often that I feel actual fear that a sermon is about to end, but that's how I felt about this one. We should have kept cheering at the end to see if she'd maybe come out and do an encore!

In any case, do yourself a favor and watch. I feel that the entire service of licensing, commissioning, and ordination is worth a watch, but if you're pressed for time, Bishop Easterling's sermon begins around 11:55 into the video. -MH

Being "saved" is a word whose meaning has been lost. Over the centuries, the word's original, life-giving use by the authors of the New Testament was hijacked--corrupted to refer instead to what happens to us after we're dead. Please join us this weekend for Pentecost Sunday, and hear about how this word has nothing to do with death, and everything to do with being fully alive!
