In 1902, the Congregational Church in Clear Lake, SD, was organized in the Court House at Clear Lake. It may be of interest that at the first election of the church officers, a music committee was named as well as Trustees, a Treasurer, a Clerk, and a Deacon. A building was erected in 1903 at a cost of $5082 is still in use, though it has been remodeled and redecorated. Two nearby congregations at

Plainview and Lake Alice, after holding alternating afternoon services for some years, were disbanded with many of the people uniting with the Congregational Church here in Clear Lake. Members have cared enough to provide ministerial leadership through the years, to raise their budgets and to share in the wider mission program to spread the Word of God. Many Pastors have served the congregation through the years with their talents,led by God, and have since gone on,but the church stands firm under the watchful eye of God the Father, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Clear Lake had very active Masonic and Eastern Star organizations in its early years. Looking through their photo album is like seeing a Who’s Who of city leaders. This robe was used in ceremonies.
