If God did not forgive sinners like you and me, Heaven would be empty.

Denominations...

After Jesus' death early followers of Jesus, mostly around the apostles, considered themselves part of Judaism. It was not until the 3rd century, after Constantine legalized the preaching of the Messiah, that the foundations of what would become the Catholic church would be laid...this was followed 700 or so years later by the eastern Orthodox church.

In the 16th century, after the Catholic church became umbilical, reformers like Luther and Calvin rightly questioned the church's theology, which had departed from biblical truth and toward a politically motivated body more concerned with power and wealth, and less concerned about the condition of the common man. This laid the foundation for the Bible to be translated into common languages, so people could read it for themselves and be able to discern truth from manipulation.

The reformation was a pivotal event in the history of the Church, and laid the foundation for us to understand and be true to the word...but it also created a playground for the devil to play in, and use wickedly motivated people to twist the truth and divide believers.

Now we have more denominations and Christian cults than you can count, and churches that preach sin as the truth, leading millions astray, giving people what they want to hear, instead of what they need to hear.

So here is a question we all need to answer...are we Baptist, Lutheran, Catholic, Anglican, etc., or are we simply Christian?

If we are Christians, then our foundation should be the truth, found in scripture, and nothing more, and we need to stop allowing the division of denominationalism, and seek a way for churches to unite for the truth, and dismiss the chaff that proclaims the truth while teaching a false religion...period.

Note: I am not dismissing any denomination outright, as long as it is biblically centered...I'm questioning our need to profess our denomination as a title. For instance, I have traditionally gone to Baptist churches, but I am not a Baptist first, I am a Christian, a follower of Christ above all else.

What are your thoughts on this?

Daily Devotions

Below is a collection of verses that create a strong foundation for understanding why daily devotion matters in the Christian life. The theme woven through them is consistency—seeking God not only in crisis, but through regular prayer, worship, meditation, gratitude, and fellowship.

A few key ideas stand out:

• Prayer keeps us connected to God
1 Thessalonians and Philippians emphasize continual prayer and bringing every burden before Him.

• Quiet time with God strengthens faith
Matthew and Mark show the importance of solitude and intentional time with God, following even Jesus’ example.

• Scripture protects and guides us
Psalms highlight the need for storing up God’s Word in our hearts and meditating on His works.

• Devotion is more than routine—it is worship
Romans reminds believers that offering our lives to God daily is an act of worship itself.

• Faith grows stronger in community
Hebrews encourages believers to continue gathering, encouraging, and strengthening one another.

One practical way to build a meaningful daily devotion habit is to keep it simple and consistent:
1. Begin with prayer.
2. Read a short passage of Scripture.
3. Reflect on one truth or lesson.
4. Write down a prayer or gratitude.
5. Carry one verse or thought with you throughout the day.

Even a few focused minutes each day can gradually deepen spiritual discipline and awareness of God’s presence.

Immersion...

I have been learning German for the past few years and have come a long way, but I am far from fluency. The problem for me is that I am not immersed in a community of German speakers, which almost all language teachers will tell you is the best way to learn and retain a new language.

I am a theologian...I have been learning scripture since I was 5 years old. I went to Sunday school, I listened to sermons, and I read the Bible regularly. When I was a teenager, I gave my life to Christ, I studied harder, I surrounded myself with other believers, and I grew much faster. Later, I felt the calling, so I went to seminary, and in that environment, I grew exponentially, because I was immersed in the culture of scripture and faith.

The point I am making is that if you want to grow in your faith, if you want to get closer to Jesus, if you want to influence others, then you need to immerse yourself in the culture....otherwise, you may know some stuff, but you will never be fluent.

Peace should not be a distant illusion for believers, it should be as much a part of us as breathing...if we do not have it, we are not following and believing the message of the cross. Peace is a proof of the spirit of God in your life...so how do you get it if you do not have it?

-Confess your sins and repent
-Seek forgiveness when you wrong others
-Forgive others even when they do not ask or deserve it
-Read the Bible daily
-Pray continually
-Gather around yourself other believers
-Seek Him in everything

John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you."

2 Thessalonians 3:16 "Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way."

Yesterday's Transgressions are Today's Testimonies!

The devil likes to play a game with us; he brings up our past to try to keep us from a future in Christ...and a lot of people fall for it, feeling like they are not good enough to be saved...but that is a big fat lie! Adversity Builds Faith!

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
