“Coffee with Christ”

(Psalm 27:4)
“One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.”

We live in the most blessed country in the world and have more unsatisfied people in it than anywhere I know of! Red, yellow, black or white, the only limitations are those within ourselves. Many don’t want a hand up, they want a hand out! They don’t want opportunities, they want guaranties. Here’s a guarantee! God’s coming, and your gonna die! Fix your heart on that and the rest seems kinda trivial! If you do that…..

(Psalm 23:6)
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

“Coffee with Christ”

(1 Peter 5:8)
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour”

"Your adversary the Devil." These are ominous words, and suggest our privilege and our warfare. We fight, not against flesh and blood, not with human beings, but against principalities, and powers, and wicked spirits ruling and reigning in the hearts and minds of ungodly men. The personage of the devil is about as little realized by the lost Church as the personage of The Holy Spirit is by the world! He, (satan) was very real to Our Lord Jesus Christ and we had better recognize his reality in our world today! One of his greatest weapons against the church is to minimize and trivialize sin. If he is portrayed as a cartoon character and sin as unimportant, he has won the battle. No wonder the SBC lost 1200 churches last year! That he is very powerful there should be no doubt. That he is the god of this world and a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour is sure. But fear not, for greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world!

(Hebrews 2:14-15)
“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bo***ge.”

"Coffee with Christ"

(Isaiah 5:20)
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

I’ve had someone tell me participating in halloween is a way to mock evil. Showing a display of Christ’s victory over sin by making fun of ghouls and goblins, devils and witches. While many people don’t believe there are such things, the Bible speaks of them quite often. The Christian is not of this world but has been sent into the world to be a witness for the Lord, (John 17:18). The danger of being sent into the world as sheep among the wolves is that we compromise with the ways of the world the way “Just Lot” did. It says he, “vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their evil deeds”. To take your children trick or treating, or to decorate your house with halloween trimmings and provide candy for the poor misguided children that are ignorantly participating is sin. It is not just harmless fun. We have all but lost our Nation due to our loss of understanding the difference between light and darkness. Some preaches teach that dressing your children like little angels on halloween makes it ok! I say it doesn’t change a thing! (2 Corinthians 11:13-14) teaches that “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”

(Deuteronomy 18:10-12)
“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.”

Coffee with Christ

(2 Corinthians 6:14-17)
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you”

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to “come out from among “them” and be “ye” separate”. There is an us and a them. Just as you don’t see satanists coming to an Easter Sunrise Service, you shouldn’t see Christians walking the streets with their children dressed in costumes on Halloween night. Halloween, at its core, glorifies darkness, fear, and death, all of which stand in direct opposition to the light, peace, and life that God calls His people to walk in. While many see Halloween as harmless fun, Scripture challenges believers to discern the spiritual roots and implications of things they participate in. Whether you dress as an Angel or a demon you are still participating in and teaching your children to participate in pagan, demonic activity. How can we share the gospel of life while celebrating symbols of death? How can we preach the triumph of Christ over Satan while imitating satanic imagery? It is not spiritual weakness or immaturity to separate ourselves from the wickedness of the world. For a Christian father to surrender his convictions in order to satisfy his wife and let his children have fun at such a cost is the true weakness and immaturity. Scripture is plain when it comes to this. If it even appears to be evil, abstain! To not abstain is willful rebellion.

(1 Thessalonians 5:22)
“Abstain from all appearance of evil.”

“Coffee with Christ”

(Philippians 2:10-11)
“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

It is not a matter of “if you will” confess, it is a matter of when and under what circumstances. Every rebel will be brought to submission on his knees before the master, whether it be in this life or the next. Even Satan himself will be brought to his knees before God The Father and confess that Jesus is Lord! Take heed, it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

(Romans 14:11-12)
“For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”

“Coffee with Christ”

(Hebrews 9:12)
“Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”

What can wash away my sin? Nothing, Nothing, Nothing but the Blood of Jesus! It took the birth, sinless life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ to purchase, redeem and purge me from my sin! That redemption was eternal, everlasting, needing never again to be duplicated. I am forever free from the wage of sin! Oh but my conscience is a different thing. The feeling of guilt! To be forgiven is one thing but to forgive yourself is quite another. The enemy also knows this and uses it against us in spiritual battle. The heart of the matter is indeed a matter of the heart! Your mind is the battlefield and your conscience is the score keeper. One drop of the Blood of Jesus tips the scales in our favor. Pray! Pray the Blood of Christ over your life, over your family, over your body and over your conscience! That you may serve the living God free from the yoke and bo***ge of sin! There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ! I am free from the law of sin and death by the law of the Spirit of life in Christ!

(Hebrews 9:13-14)
“For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”

“Coffee with Christ”

(Exodus 33:14-15)
“And He said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.”

Have you ever been faced with a difficult decision? Do we hang on to the old or grab on to the new? Sometimes finding the direction of the Lord is difficult. Moses was commanded to lead the children of Israel to the promised land and yet the people and the way had become hard. Moses prayed, “God if You’re not going with me, CARRY US not up hence.” Who is carrying who? Who is leading who? No matter what we do or where we go, if God is leading the way and we are following Him, we can’t go wrong! It is when we lose sight of Him and His way that we get confused, lost. The closer we follow Him, the safer we are.

(Psalm 1:1-3)
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

“Coffee with Christ”

(Ephesians 2:4-5)
“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)”

What a spectacular set of verses! So rich in the doctrines of Grace! God “quickened” us when we were helplessly, hopelessly, spiritually dead in sin. When we were unable to do anything for ourselves spiritually, God “quickened” (rebirthed) (gave life to) (Regenerated) us. Without the “quickening” we could not have produced the faith it takes to be saved. He gave us power (life), the ability, not just the authority, to become the sons of God by faith in Christ! We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus! (Romans 9:16) “So then, it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy!”

(John 1:12-13)
“But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

“Coffee with Christ”

(James 2:19)
“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.”

Belief in God only qualifies you to be a devil. Belief is not faith, just as knowledge is not wisdom. You must believe in order to have faith just as you must have knowledge before you can wisely put it to use, hence wisdom. To have knowledge and not apply it use is not wise. Faith is belief to the point that it becomes action just as love is not what you say but what you do. (John 14:21) “He that hath my commandments AND KEEPETH THEM, he it is that loveth me.” If we are not striving to live what we say we believe, it is not genuine faith.

(1 John 2:3-4)
“And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”
