Are you living up to your privilege in Christ?

Luke 12:48 says, “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required.”

We’ve been given so much in Christ. The question is, what are we doing with what we’ve been given?

Christ & Crafts kicked off the new school year this morning!

We had the opportunity to visit with hardworking people, precious children, new residents, and friends we have been visiting for years. Several residents even helped direct us to others we could visit or offered to share bags with their friends.

What a sweet morning of serving together and sharing the love of Jesus with our community!

We can know Bible facts. We can understand theology. We can quote Scripture and explain what Jesus taught. All of that matters, but knowing about Jesus is not the same as following Him.

Sunday, Pastor Andrew reminded us that there comes a point when hearing must become doing, learning must become following, and conviction must become obedience.

The nets were not bad. The boat was not bad. Their father was not bad. They were good and important parts of their lives, but none of them could take the place that belonged to Jesus.
⠀
We often look only for something obviously wrong that might keep us from following Him. Sunday, Pastor Andrew reminded us that sometimes the greater obstacle is something good that we have allowed to become more important than Christ.
⠀
Following Jesus does not make our families, work, plans, or responsibilities less important. It puts them in their proper place under His authority.

Peter was not ready when Jesus called him. He still had plenty to learn, plenty of growing to do, and plenty of mistakes ahead of him. Jesus knew all of that, and He still said, “Follow Me.”

Sunday, Pastor Andrew reminded us that discipleship is not a self-improvement program. Jesus does not tell us to fix everything about ourselves and then follow Him. He calls us to follow, and He provides the power to transform us.

Our part is to follow. His work is to make us more like Him.
