Well, the last church gathering of the semester with The Band was terrific! Graduate and birthday celebrations, receiving Holy Communion together, and then a pre-finals destress night with games and s’mores. 🃏🔥

A little sad the semester is drawing to a close but sure are thankful for the ways God shows up in and thru our Wesley fam!

Keep an eye out for where we’ll be with finals happies the first few days of finals week! 🤩

We almost did not meet for our last Devo & Donuts of the semester. Thankfully, my students reminded me that they did not have class today so some of them would be so sad if for once they could actually be there but we didn’t get together. Lo and behold, this sweet group of humans gathered around the table. We shared, we read, we laughed, we ate, and we prayed. I do believe this is what Jesus had in mind when he talked to his followers about the Kin*dom of God.

Looking for a faith community to jump into when we come back in the fall? Send us a DM. We would love to welcome you home. 😊

Peace,

Last night, The Band used our church time to…well, be the church! Had a great time lending a hand over at Forest Street UMC as they prepare to be the Clarksville host site for this summer. Forest Street UMC is one of our partner churches and two of our students will be working for PT this summer—so cool to see our worlds collide!

Know we’re getting near the end of the semester. Take care of yourselves, Govs!

Big night for Wesley!

Didn’t come away with a win at the SOLA Awards, but as they say, “It’s an honor just to be nominated!” 🥰

Then four of our amazing crew were inducted into APSU’s chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success!

So proud of all of our students—for their hard work and dedication to their academics, to their extracurriculars, to our campus ministry, and in sharing Christ’s love in their everyday lives.

Have a terrific rest of your week, Govs!

(If you’re free, come hang with us at Devo and Donuts in the morning at 9:30 in the MUC. 🍩)

One of the things that we take to heart at Wesley is the importance of feeding people—both physically and spiritually. If you’ve seen us around campus, you’ve probably been handed a snack or some candy or an entire meal. What Jesus taught us is that it’s vital to feed people in many different ways.

What we know to be true is that if people have hungry bellies, they’re probably not going to be able to hear anything that we want to share with them about how deeply loved they are by God. Instead, we know—from Jesus’s example and the example of our host and partner churches who routinely feed US— that it’s imperative for us to show that love instead. And most times? People receive divine love pretty well through food.

So, because of all that’s been given to us, we try to give back to those who are helping other people. Today we delivered a wagon load of snacks over to Little Govs (the preschool on APSU’s campus) to help out their workers. By doing this, we hope they receive our thanks for taking care of some of the smallest and most precious among us and also as a reminder of how deeply loved they are.

May we nurture one another today—whether it is with food, or love, or both. 🩷

Peace,
MK

Aaand we’re back! 🤩

First Band since before spring break, and it was GOOD to be together!

Missing a few, welcomed a new friend, and more or less took a collective sigh at getting to eat, chat, learn, pray, and laugh…all while growing in our faith as individuals and as a campus ministry community.

It’s not too late to join us this semester—check our pinned “weekly schedule” post and come hang out next week! We’d love to meet you and welcome you into our crew. 🥰

A note from our campus minister, Mary Kate:

One of the coolest things about United Methodism is something we call “the connection,” and what that refers to is that United Methodists are connected in our mission and purpose in the world. When we’re doing it correctly, we’re helping each other live into our various vocations by supporting one another by our prayers, time, relationships, and resources. Nothing that happens at APSU Wesley occurs without the connection we share with our partner churches in and around Clarksville, Tennessee.

When I got to campus in the fall of ‘23, I quickly became aware that food scarcity is something many of our students struggle with on campus. So, along with being a means to getting them to come talk to a random old lady in their University Center, I realized when they came up to the table that snacks were so much more than snacks for some.

Since then, at our Wesley Wednesdays event that happens each week, we hand out free snacks to students for a couple of hours in the UC. Often students will look at us confused when we tell them that they don’t have to do anything in order to get the snacks; rather, they just have to take them and know that they’re loved. Never fails, they walk away with a smile on their face.

We are able to continue this specific ministry because of the ways our partner churches come alongside us to provide snacks that we can then hand out to students on campus. Today, I want to give a huge shout out to our partner church, Forest Street United Methodist Church, for this beyond-generous outpouring of snacks that I know will not only fill bellies, but also fill hearts of students who are hungry in more ways than one.

Giving thanks for Forest Street UMC,
Giving thanks for the connection,
& giving thanks for APSU Wesley foundation.
