Contract Labor/Birth Assistants Needed: (Please follow directions carefully)
We are looking for a few more birth assistants to join our homebirth team!
A birth assistant helps the midwife to perform their duties. Examples include-helping with charting, vital signs, preparing for and assisting in an emergency, and help cleaning up and restocking after a birth. Birth is unpredictable and a birth assistant could be present 3-24+ hours, but for us it averages 5-7 hours per birth. It is helpful to have multiple birth assistants trained and ready to attend births so that not just one person needs to be on call 100% of the time.
The minimum requirements are listed below:
*Ability to multitask
*MUST live within 30 minutes of Clarksville, TN.
*A willingness to be on-call in 24 hours from 7pm to 7pm. And will come when you have agreed to be on-call. (schedule done monthly)
*MUST have a reliable vehicle.
*MUST have reliable phone with good signal.
*MUST have reliable childcare, when on-call (if applicable)
*Must have Healthcare Provider First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain it before attending orientation births.
*Must have Neonatal Resuscitation training (NRP) or willingness to obtain before attending orientation births.
*Some medical and birth knowledge is required.
*Nurse aides/LPNs encouraged to apply.
Additional training from us will be expected which will be discussed during interviews.
If this sounds like an opportunity that interests you, please submit a one-page cover letter AND resumé VIA EMAIL ONLY to Clarksville Midwifery. The cover letter should outline why you feel you would be a good candidate, your medical and birth knowledge, current qualifications, and expected number of days you could be available in a month.
*Pay will be PER BIRTH attended.
*Your first birth attended will be OBSERVE ONLY (unpaid).
*During orientation births, the birth assistant will be paid $50 per birth. Orientation will last until the midwife team and birth assistant complete an evaluation and ALL training is complete. Details will be discussed during interviews. The length of orientation will vary on each person’s experience level and how quickly you work through your learning/orientation phase.
* Once fully trained, and agreed upon by the midwife team, the birth assistant will be paid $200 per birth.
Submissions should be EMAILED to [email protected] by 5 PM on Friday, February 2nd. Please do not call or FB message, ONLY EMAILED SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
