Historical Greenwood Cemetery

I will be giving two tours at Greenwood Cemetery this month: Saturday, June 13 and Saturday, June 20, both at 10:00. Tickets may be purchased at the cemetery office or can be paid to me before the tour. The cost is $15 for adults ages 18+ and $10 for children under 18. This is an easy walk and mostly in the shade but it is June so wear comfortable shoes and bring bottled water. Books on the cemetery will be available: cost $45. You will learn so much about the cemetery, its occupants and the symbolism of the monument designs. No spooky tales just fascinating facts. Come join us! Please share.

Goodmorning friends. I am so sorry that I have to, but I must say this again. We love that so many of you come out and walk and enjoy our beautiful Cemetery. We have mother's, children, men, APSU track teams, and many more. We welcome those who wish to walk their animals also, but we are not a dog park! If you want to let your sweet babies run free you have to go to a dog park or fenced in yard. It is a city ordinance and rule of the Cemetery your animals MUST be on a leash. Please abide by the rules we do not want to have to disallow anyone to come and walk and enjoy the safety and beauty of Greenwood. Thank you all and please keep them on a leash.

Goodmorning friends. I am sharing a picture of a beautiful headstone, placed on someone's loving husbands grave. Someone came into Greenwood Cemetery and broke the picture loving placed of the two of them. First destruction in a Cemetery is a felony! These pictures are very expensive from $800 to $1400 dollars. I do not care if you don't like someone, if you are a family member a disgruntled friend, whatever I assure you if found out you will be brought up on charges and convicted. I hope this never ever happens to anyone else. We have had some families with issues before and we don't get involved unless there is damage. So many cameras in and around the cemetery now. It breaks my heart to think anyone could be so cruel.

Happy birthday, Tennessee! Tennessee celebrates its 230th birthday (Statehood Day) on June 1, marking the date in 1796 when President George Washington signed the bill admitting the territory as the 16th U.S. state. 230 years sure looks good on you.

Goodmorning friends. Thank you to all our family members who served to give us our freedom. Thank you all for trusting us to care for them. Planting the Flags day was a huge success. Thank you to all the Scouts, leaders, parents and the American Legion for supplying the Flags. Thank you to all the volunteers that came out to help, Jodi's Cabinet Sales had a crew. If for any reason your loved one does not have a flag please call the office at (931) 645-6812 and we will get one out there. We have over 1700 veterans if we missed someone we will get it out there. Thank you all have a blessed and safe day.

Hello friends. Historical Greenwood Cemetery Our Office will be closed on Monday May 25, 2026 in Observance of Memorial Day. We will reopen open May 26, 2026 at 9:00 am. The gates will be open normal hours as always. We wish you all a safe and happy Memorial Day.

Goodmorning all. Thank you so much to all the Scouts, Scout Leaders, parents and all the wonderful Volunteers that showed up to help Plant the Flags for our Veterans. A special thank you to Commander Chuck Clark from American Legion post 7 and Gerald Foster Boy Scout Troop Leader, your dedication to this annual event is greatly appreciated.
