Read this if you’re feeling overwhelmed today... ⬇️

In Joshua 1, God repeats a command over and over again: “Be strong and courageous.” Why? Because He knew we would struggle with fear. He knew we would have days where we feel completely dismayed and frightened.

But notice where the anchor is. God doesn’t tell Joshua to dig deep and find inner strength. He says, “for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Your courage is word-shaped and presence-driven. You can step forward into this week knowing that you don’t carry the weight of the mission on your own—the Living God walks with you.

Today was a full and joyful day at FBC!

We worshiped the Lord together, began our journey through the book of Joshua, shared in the Lord’s Supper, and then did what good Southern Baptists do to kick off the summer: enjoyed an awesome, amazing, very tasty, good old-fashioned potluck.

It was such a joy to fellowship together as a church family. There may be some truth to the old saying: a church that eats together, stays together.

Seriously, thank you to everyone who helped make today possible: our deacons for setting up tables, our women’s ministry for organizing everything so well, and every person who brought food, served, cleaned up, and helped make the day special.
What a blessing to be part of this church family.

We definitely need to do this again soon!

✍️🤓 Sermon Note from the Pastor:

Tomorrow we begin a new sermon series through the book of Joshua called FORWARD.

Joshua opens at a major turning point in the story of God’s people.

Moses is dead.
The wilderness years are over.
The Jordan River is before them.
The promised land is ahead.

And into that moment, God speaks to Joshua:

“Be strong and courageous.”

But Joshua’s courage is not rooted in personality, experience, military strength, or self-confidence. His courage is rooted in the promises of God, the Word of God, and the presence of God.

In Joshua 1, we will see:

• God’s mission moves forward by His presence,
• God’s people must stay the course in obedient faith,
• strength comes through God’s Word and God’s presence,
• and the Lord gives, provides, and fights for His people.

The main idea:

“God’s mission moves forward through Word-shaped courage, obedient faith, and the promise of His presence.”

We will also take the Lord’s Supper together as we remember the greater Joshua, Jesus Christ, who brings His people into true and final rest.

Come prepared for the Word.
Come prepared to worship.
Come prepared to remember.
Come prepared to move FORWARD in faith.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

— Joshua 1:9

This Sunday, we begin a new sermon series through the book of Joshua:

**FORWARD: Be Strong. Be Courageous.**

Joshua is a powerful book about God’s faithfulness, His promises, and His call for His people to trust and obey Him. As Israel stands on the edge of the Promised Land, they are called to move forward, not because they are strong in themselves, but because the Lord is with them.

Over the next several weeks, we will walk through some of the major moments in Joshua: the call to courage, Rahab’s faith, the crossing of the Jordan, the fall of Jericho, the danger of hidden sin, the faithfulness of God’s promises, and Joshua’s final challenge to serve the Lord.

My hope is that this series will encourage us as a church to remember who God is, trust what He has said, and move forward in faith together.

Join us this Sunday as we begin with Joshua 1:1–9.

What a journey it has been through the book of Philippians. 📖✨

We’ve spent the last several weeks uncovering what it means to have Joy Under Pressure. If Paul’s letter taught us anything, it’s that true, unshakeable joy isn’t found in a flawless life—it’s found in a faithful Savior. 💎🙌

From learning to pray for a healthy church to choosing unity through humility, pressing on toward the prize, and discovering true contentment in every circumstance, the ultimate takeaway remains the same: Christ above all.
