Colgate Baptist Church Sunday School 9:30 AM
Sunday Worship Service 10:30 AM

Having been led as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and upon the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God the Creator of the Universe, most solemnly yet joyfully enter this covenant together as one body in Christ. We promise, therefore, by the aid o

f the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love: to strive for advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spiritually to sustain its worship, ordinance, discipline and doctrines, to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expense of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations. We also promise to maintain family and personal devotions; to educate our children in the Christian Faith, to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances: to walk upright in the world: to be honest in our dealings, and exemplary in our behavior: to avoid all gossip, slander, and excessive anger; and to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage or anything which demoralizes the individual. We further promise to watch over one another in brotherly love, to remember each other in prayer: to aid each other in sickness and distress: to cultivate Christian sympathy in our character and courtesy in our speech: to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay. We promise that when we remove from this place, we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of the covenant that involves the principles of God’s Word.

Thankful for another week of gathering together with the saints of Colgate. The Church is not a building, and we are still adhering to our usual order of worship! Our ecclesiology doesn’t change just because our location changes. After service, we had a cookout and enjoyed time together in fellowship. We are so grateful for how the Lord has blessed our congregation!

Today’s Order of Worship:

Confessional Prayer

Call to Worship: Responsive Reading of Psalm 111:1-3

Great is Thy Faithfulness

Scripture Reading: Joel 2:21-23

The Old Rugged Cross

Offertory/Civil Magistrate Prayer

Psalm Reading: Psalm 2

Psalm 2 in Song

Sermon Acts 1:15-26

Be Thou My Vision

Benediction: 2 Corinthians 13:14

Please reach out to us if you’d like to join us for worship, we’d love to have you! We are currently meeting at the McDavid home, but next month we will begin meeting in other members’ homes as well, so be sure to contact us for the address if you’d like to attend! Next week, we will also be recognizing and honoring our 2 high school graduates, Zachary and Zoe Ard.

As a congregation, Colgate Baptist Church has made the decision to leave our building. For many years, our congregation has not been large enough to use and sustain the entirety of our building. As wise stewards of what the Lord has blessed us with, we have made the decision to relocate.

Of course, we know that the church is not made up of a building, but it is made up of God's people. We are grateful for our small, tight-knit congregation, and we have no plans to discontinue ministry! We are still around and we will still be loving and serving our community.

For now, we will be putting a temporary pause on our food pantry ministry, as we work through the process of selling our building. Our plan is to open this ministry back up by the end of the year, serving our community as a mobile food pantry. Stay tuned for announcements in the coming months.

For now, we are meeting as a house church, and we would love for you to join us! Please send us a message if you'd like the address for our meeting location.

God has blessed our time here on the corner of East Montgomery and South Clark, but we are moving in to a new season of our life as a church, and we are grateful that the Lord is still working in and through us.

As we sang last week,

"This is my Father's world,
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King; let the heavens ring.
God reigns, let earth be glad!"

The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.
Psalm 103:19

“As a Christian, this world will wrong you. As a brother and sister in Christ, your brothers and sisters, your pastors, and those around you who are supposed to protect you will wrong you. I’m not saying it’s right for you to have to take a slap and then offer the other cheek. But Jesus did it. I’m not saying it’s easy, I’m not saying you get ahead in life, because trust me, you don’t. But God is sufficient. He’s been there. The God Man himself would have been right to judge wicked sinners on the cross, but instead he chose to be wronged. We follow a Man who willingly chose to be wronged for the benefit of those wronging him.”

1 Corinthians 6:1-8
